Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Illegal Irritations
Nothing supernatural about this one, there are just some guys sell illegal drugs and weaponry in some of the back alleys of Tokyo. They might solicit you to try and get your business or you might just happen upon them targeting someone else. Either way, are you really okay with letting this go on in your city?
For some strange reason, a bunch of jellyfish have taken to literally jumping out of the ocean and all over the beaches. They seem to be scared of something in the water, but be that as it may, they're scaring away all the beach tourism! Quick, figure out how to get them back in the water!
A brand new store is opening up and, as part of their grand opening, they want people to perform for their potential customers! And they're just dragging people off of the streets and shoving them into ridiculous, off-brand character costumes to do it. Whether you're part of the show or watching others make fools of themselves, it promises to be a good time.
There's a great, new brand of lingerie being sold in Akihabara that is all the rage right now. They're stylish and sexy and come in all shapes, sizes, and colors! There's even some that are themed after popular shows. But people who are buying them keep winding up missing. Coincidence?
So many birds are molting on the spot for no reason, shedding feathers all over the streets, on peoples' cars, and in any space they can get into. It's really not their fault, but darn if it's not making things difficult to do with all these feathers around! Either help clean up or figure out how to stop the mass molting!

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!
When and if you're ready to join the game, check out the Taken Characters before throwing in a Reserve and starting on your Application
Have fun!

Stay back!
Red eyes lock on Izumo, warning him away. His flame was too close. ]

His own aura doesn't provide much of a protection; it seems to blend in with this man's aura and it keeps on burning.
But Izumo's nothing but determined.
At this rate, this place will be destroyed, so Izumo grabs the redhead's arm - he ignores the flare of pain that comes with it - and glares.]
Concentrate. [A simple word, hoping somehow it'll help him.
Izumo's never done this before - not that he can recall - but he isn't going to leave the other man, that's for sure.]

.... Izumo.
[ Mikoto is visibly shaken, the after effects of the enormous energy he's expended, along with Izumo's unexpected move. I could have hurt him. It's all that runs through his mind as he stares back at him. ]
1/2
There's pain, he could feel it, and only a brief thought about Kensei and how he already misses his cooking.
He looks at the other man, ready to say something, when he hears his name and suddenly, there's something else that takes over.]
2/2
There's a hint of fear in his eyes because this man called him by his name. Sure, he could've heard it from someone else, but the redhead is visibly shaken as if he was the one afraid.
As a shinki, Izumo knows the danger if someone tells him about his lost memories.
There's a step back, hands clenched at his sides, and he stares at the other man. He wants to ask how he knows his name, but that's--
Dangerous. Too close.
The fear remains even as he tries a weak attempt of a smile.]
Finally you got yourself under control again.

The flames run across his skin, spilling through but contained. He has control but for how long? The truth of his end is already affecting him, and worse, he can't even apologize. Not without making things worse than he's already done.
He turns away, breaking eye contact. Izumo gave up too much already in their last life, he wouldn't let him do it again in this one. So, he walks away without a word, every step feeling like knives cutting into his skin. But in the end, it was better this way. ]

That's the first thought that rings through Izumo's head, and he knows he should walk away. But he can't - doesn't.
There's a pull there that makes him want to follow the man. A clench of the jaw before he goes after Mikoto.
Even if Mikoto was a connection to his past - Izumo knows he should stay away in that case - he couldn't leave the redhead alone. There were questions, ones that made him bite his tongue to prevent himself from asking. There was anger, too, surging inside of him because....
Because what?]
Wait. [It's not a plea, but god or not - connected to his past or not - Izumo cannot bring himself to let the redhead leave just yet.]
no subject
Go back to your god.
[ He means to end it, right here, right now. Izumo would be safe that way. Not only did he pose a danger to him as the Red King but now even their past together was a ticking time bomb. In the end, it always came back to the same thing. He wasn't any good for any of them. Izumo, Tatara, his Clansmen... they deserved better. ]
no subject
There's a smile, far from genuine.]
I don't have a god. [Not anymore, at least. Not right now.]
no subject
What do you mean?
no subject
My god left. He's not here anymore.
no subject
What a shitty god.
[ Just like him. ]
no subject
[Izumo's carefully gauging him.
His slip of his first god was unintentional, but he won't take it back. He's already lost two gods; he's always losing-
Izumo stops that train of thought immediately. It was simply faint, nothing more. But Izumo will take out a cigarette and silently offers Mikoto one.]

Izumo's not sure why it brings a strange burst of happiness, familiarity, but he'll take it. He'll light his own cigarette. He knows he should let the other man go, knowing the threat he poses when it concerns his past.
It's too bad Izumo's never been a kind person to let certain things slip away.]
no subject
Where'd you get these?
[ He'll need to start buying his own now, so better get the info from him now. ]
no subject
[He reaches a hand into his pocket and tosses the other man the carton.
It's still nearly full.]
Here.

Thanks.

[He was a link to his past, one that he should forget about and move on.]
If you ever feel like you want a drink or a bite to eat, feel free to swing by my bar, too. Otherwise, don't go getting into trouble.
1/2
I'll keep that in mind.
2/2
See you around.

[And this time, he'll let Mikoto leave.]

He looks up, a bitter smile faintly curving his lips. In the end, he hadn't listened to his advice. He'd done things his way, like always and Izumo... he must have been angry with him, like always. ]
.... I'm sorry.
no subject
But now he's looking up, and Izumo furrows his eyebrows.]
For what?
[It's a dangerous question, but as long as Mikoto is vague enough, he should be safe. That depends on what kind of response Mikoto would give, though.]
no subject
Mikoto grins, putting on airs. There was no point in worrying him. ]
I never could make that promise.
[ He keeps on walking until he becomes a faint figure in the background and slowly disappears out of sight. ]
