Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Illegal Irritations
Nothing supernatural about this one, there are just some guys sell illegal drugs and weaponry in some of the back alleys of Tokyo. They might solicit you to try and get your business or you might just happen upon them targeting someone else. Either way, are you really okay with letting this go on in your city?
For some strange reason, a bunch of jellyfish have taken to literally jumping out of the ocean and all over the beaches. They seem to be scared of something in the water, but be that as it may, they're scaring away all the beach tourism! Quick, figure out how to get them back in the water!
A brand new store is opening up and, as part of their grand opening, they want people to perform for their potential customers! And they're just dragging people off of the streets and shoving them into ridiculous, off-brand character costumes to do it. Whether you're part of the show or watching others make fools of themselves, it promises to be a good time.
There's a great, new brand of lingerie being sold in Akihabara that is all the rage right now. They're stylish and sexy and come in all shapes, sizes, and colors! There's even some that are themed after popular shows. But people who are buying them keep winding up missing. Coincidence?
So many birds are molting on the spot for no reason, shedding feathers all over the streets, on peoples' cars, and in any space they can get into. It's really not their fault, but darn if it's not making things difficult to do with all these feathers around! Either help clean up or figure out how to stop the mass molting!

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!
When and if you're ready to join the game, check out the Taken Characters before throwing in a Reserve and starting on your Application
Have fun!

But an ayakashi is different than that. Sometimes it's a soul that's fallen to such an extent, but sometimes I think it's just the dark feelings people have that take on lives of their own and turn even normal people into monsters.
Regardless, I think they're creatures that don't deserve the sadness of their own existence. That they should be freed from the darkness that binds them.
So I hope they go somewhere they can find rest, too.

[ She turned toward him then, surprised awe illuminated clear as day on his face. Was that the power of a god—or, at least, the one she served—to be able to see such a thing?
It was...
She wasn't sure she had words for it. Awe-inspiring, really. That someone could have such power and not go mad.
And humbling, to be as a weapon that fought by the side of someone like that. ]
[2/3]
Nodding once, a smile both somewhat serene but also quite resolute catching in her features. ]
I'm glad that you feel that way.
[ Really glad. That they had at least that much to create a sort of synergy as they figured the logistics out was a relief. Not that she was truly worried, as far as he was concerned.
But having that bit of confirmation was good. ]
I wish there was a way to prevent them from appearing, but... I suppose something like that is impossible, isn't it? That a person might always have darkness within them as well, whether they are aware of it or not.
[ A person. Not a god or a shinki. ]

A low grumble, not from any kind of ayakashi or the like, but from another sort of beast.
Putting a hand on her stomach, she smiled somewhat bashfully, looking all but a bit embarrassed. ]
I... didn't realize that fighting like that would make someone so hungry. Ahaha...
[ At least this seemed to all be wrapped up? ]
no subject
But did she say.....
...that after that she was hungry??! ]
...really? [ LUX, THIS—
This is an expression of some awe and wonder. But mostly surprise, as that is—not like she usually is. (More like him than he thought??? BONDING OVER FOOD?!) ]

Judging his expression, she blinks a few times in mild confusion. ]
Yes?
[ ...Is that strange? ]

Well, he can't let on he knows it's not normal for her and merely pauses for a moment to debate that—only to have the point punctuated by the particularly long and drawn-out whine of protest from his own stomach.
Even in this form that doesn't much change for him... ]
Ah, nothing. [ He sounds both a little sheepish and amicable about it. ]
Getting something to eat sounds good.
[ you try to tell Allen he doesn't have to eat anymore. pls. ]
[1/2]
Shall we, then?
[ She wouldn't dare fight that battle. No way. ]
[2/2]
That Allen was perhaps not as torn apart about making some honest yen as far as prayers are concerned. (Not very likely)
Or maybe that Lux has been working herself to the bone to try to put him out there, so he can't actually say no. (Very likely)
Or perhaps it was a combination of the two. Begrudgingly realizing and admitting that his shinki had a goal in mind and she wasn't about to let silly things like pride or "could you not call me a god..." get in her way. Because that's very likely the case here.
Regardless, the two find themselves at some kind of establishment and, through a bit of creativity, manage to flag someone down after what felt like an eternity. And at first it seems fine, casual conversation, blending in. Normal things.
But when it comes to ordering, the woman who would normally eat like a bird, when she did remember to eat... ]
Let's see...
[ Starts rattling something off. Very cognizant to the amount of money that they had but...
It was a bit more than what she might normally have. A bit more than a bit. ]
