TEST DRIVE # 13



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Illegal Irritations

Nothing supernatural about this one, there are just some guys sell illegal drugs and weaponry in some of the back alleys of Tokyo. They might solicit you to try and get your business or you might just happen upon them targeting someone else. Either way, are you really okay with letting this go on in your city?

Jumping Jellyfish

For some strange reason, a bunch of jellyfish have taken to literally jumping out of the ocean and all over the beaches. They seem to be scared of something in the water, but be that as it may, they're scaring away all the beach tourism! Quick, figure out how to get them back in the water!

Kooky Kickoff

A brand new store is opening up and, as part of their grand opening, they want people to perform for their potential customers! And they're just dragging people off of the streets and shoving them into ridiculous, off-brand character costumes to do it. Whether you're part of the show or watching others make fools of themselves, it promises to be a good time.

Lovely Lingerie

There's a great, new brand of lingerie being sold in Akihabara that is all the rage right now. They're stylish and sexy and come in all shapes, sizes, and colors! There's even some that are themed after popular shows. But people who are buying them keep winding up missing. Coincidence?

Manic Molting

So many birds are molting on the spot for no reason, shedding feathers all over the streets, on peoples' cars, and in any space they can get into. It's really not their fault, but darn if it's not making things difficult to do with all these feathers around! Either help clean up or figure out how to stop the mass molting!

It's jelly time~

The slimy mess by the water was the question of the hour for everyone visiting the beach, and Felicia was no different. The glimmer and shine of the mess had first attracted her attention because of how it resembled a crystalline sheet of ice that had drifted upon the beach, prompting her own curious investigation that quickly turned to regret. She had quickly taken to hopping between the piles of gelatinous mess upon the sand, avoiding the goop as much as possible when the stranger grabbed her wrist suddenly.

Felicia squeaked in surprise when her balance was thrown off and she toppled into the young man-- but, fortunately didn't fall right over into the mess at their feet.

"I don't know, but don't touch it," Felicia warned, her voice low and serious. "People are saying it's a bunch of some kind of animal, and it's trouble!"

[idiopic]

The girl he caught by the wrist seemed so startled by the sudden contact that she stumbled, and Tristepin quickly caught her, eyes wide and a little apologetic.

"Sorry!" he said, shaking his head. "Didn't mean to scare ya! I just wanna know what's going on..."

Of course, since she told him not to touch the stuff, that only made him want to touch it more. Hefting her back upright, he squinted a little and inched closer to the nearest glob of clear gelatinous goo.

"A bunch of animals?" he echoed, leaning down, but managing to refrain from contact for a moment. The stuff could have resembled something between a Larva and a Mushd, maybe. Or a Puddly, perhaps. But it didn't look quite like anything he was familiar with. Glancing back up at the girl, he quirked his mouth and reached out to poke at the jellylike substance with one finger. "Trouble?" he echoed, and laughed brightly. "How could some goo be trouble?" He looked back down at it as it wobbled beneath his finger, and started swirling his hand a bit, watching as it rolled. "Look, it's like jam! Why is everybody so afraid of--"

And that was when something went horribly wrong. A sharp, stinging pain erupted in his fingertip where he'd been touching the goo, and with a yawp of alarm, Tristepin pitched backward and recoiled his hand, holding it against his chest and looking utterly betrayed.

"Don't touch it it's made of fire!" he yowled, scrabbling backward and then sucking on his finger a moment before making a noise of disgust and pulling his hand away from his mouth. "Eugh! And it tastes horrible, too!"

"I told you not to touch it!" Felicia squeaked, hopping out of the way and dragging him with her. "It's a weird kind of fish that stings. I don't think it'll make you too sick, but lots of people needed to leave the beach already because of it!"

Moving quickly, she guided him further inland to safety before she took his injured hand in her's for a better look. The finger in question was already looking red and blotchy, as if it had been stung by a nettle, and she bit her lip sympathetically at the sight.

"Lots of people say it itches alot...but, maybe...."

She looked up at him, completely serious.

"How badly does it hurt? I might be able to do something."

[idiopic]

Okay, she had said not to touch it, he'd give her that, but he'd just been so curious! Who knew that slimy goo could hurt?! Sliding backward with her help, he sucked on his finger again--eugh, well, at least he'd gotten most of the bad taste off the first time.

She took his hand, and he stared at her wide-eyed for a moment. Wait, what was she doing? ... And why did girls have such warm, soft hands? He cleared his throat awkwardly, forbidding the blush that was creeping across his face to spread any further. No! His heart belonged to Evangelyne! What was he thinking??

The girl looked at him very seriously then, and when she asked how badly it hurt, he was actually torn. Did he answer honestly to see what she would try and do? (It actually hurt quite a bit more than he had expected any goo to be able to cause!) Or did he suck it up and act tough? (He wasn't trying to impress her, though, was he?)

Ah, who was he kidding? He was trying to impress everyone.

"I-it's fine!" he assured her, sitting up straighter and putting on a brave face. "It doesn't even hurt that bad. Like some Puddly swarm could actually hurt me, a Knight of the Order of the Shushu--hah!" He jabbed his stung finger in the direction of the shore. "You won't win, Fire Puddlies! I, Messire Tristepin de Percedal, shall vanquish you!!"

He flashed a quick grin at the girl and then hopped back to his feet.

"Don't you worry about me, fair lady," he said, bowing his head a little. "I'm not so easily gotten the best of!"
