TEST DRIVE # 13

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Illegal Irritations

Nothing supernatural about this one, there are just some guys sell illegal drugs and weaponry in some of the back alleys of Tokyo. They might solicit you to try and get your business or you might just happen upon them targeting someone else. Either way, are you really okay with letting this go on in your city?

Jumping Jellyfish

For some strange reason, a bunch of jellyfish have taken to literally jumping out of the ocean and all over the beaches. They seem to be scared of something in the water, but be that as it may, they're scaring away all the beach tourism! Quick, figure out how to get them back in the water!

Kooky Kickoff

A brand new store is opening up and, as part of their grand opening, they want people to perform for their potential customers! And they're just dragging people off of the streets and shoving them into ridiculous, off-brand character costumes to do it. Whether you're part of the show or watching others make fools of themselves, it promises to be a good time.

Lovely Lingerie

There's a great, new brand of lingerie being sold in Akihabara that is all the rage right now. They're stylish and sexy and come in all shapes, sizes, and colors! There's even some that are themed after popular shows. But people who are buying them keep winding up missing. Coincidence?

Manic Molting

So many birds are molting on the spot for no reason, shedding feathers all over the streets, on peoples' cars, and in any space they can get into. It's really not their fault, but darn if it's not making things difficult to do with all these feathers around! Either help clean up or figure out how to stop the mass molting!

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!

Have fun!

o1.

[ There were certain advantages that came with being dead. One of which being that it was really easy to get around without someone noticing, at least so long as they were mortal. Fellow shinki or various gods, however, eh, well that was a whole other thing altogether. Although, surprisingly this light-based servant to a hobo god seemed to be doing better than most newbies with staying unnoticed, keeping to obscured shadows and generally keeping up.

Don't ask her how, she's not actually sure, but it's weirdly kind of fun?

Also the law is the law, and while she isn't up on the latest provisions, Lux was pretty sure that selling arms on the streets probably broke at least a few of them. Give or take. Which means she was more than happy to stick her nose entirely too far into this, and maaaay have been tracking this particular group for the better part of a week now, on and off. She's not obsessed, really.

(Okay maybe she is a little, but they're breaking the law!!!)

But seriously, what is this cute blond thing doing in the worst parts of Tokyo, and how long is she going to go without actually getting spotted? Besides, what's a lone shinki going to do? Watching some kind of deal taking place in a back alley, keeping low but attentive, it looked like this tiny blond was about to go in, or was at least trying to find an excuse... ]

o2.

[ Understanding that certain restrictions would make it difficult for anyone to really notice or remember her if she was in a less cumbersome attire (like the two maids currently standing beside her, wearing outfits that breath a lot better than the costume she was shoved into, Lux still had to wonder... why this.

The money, that was why. Let's be real here. Also because she wasn't the type of person that couldn't say no when someone grabbed her from the street (how did they even notice her passing???) and practically begged for her help with such a distraught look. It was her weakness.

And so, dancing near the Shibuya scramble, bouncing from foot to foot and doing anything imaginable to get attention, this shinki literally shook her money maker. And getting far less attention than the somewhat scantily-clad maids handing out leaflets next to her.

She knew why, but gods her ego... Also why did they have to be so much cuter than her, that really wasn't fair. ]

o3.

[ After dancing for about a half hour, she was finally given a break and, shuffling off behind the shop she was advertising for, leaned against a wall, bent over and—

Did that giant rabbit just take it's head off?! ]

Haaah... How do they make this look so easy?

[ Tucking the oversized head under her arm, the shinki stayed bent over, exhaling deeply. A bit red in the face, blond hair tied into a bun and sticking slightly to the back of her neck, she didn't seem to notice that she wasn't alone and, standing upright again, she tipped her chin up, looking off into space, then— ]

—!

[ Saw that she wasn't alone and floundered on the spot, quickly slamming her head back down and making a very stiff pose. YOU SAW NOTHING, FRIEND! ]

WILDCARD.

[ Got some ideas? Want to do something that wasn't covered here? Hit me up! ]

[Speaking of lurking in the shadows...someone's been following the group and Lux for quite some time without revealing their presence, simply watching as events unfold.

And that person happens to be Hibiki, no less. Actually, it's his first time observing these shady people, so he still has to learn what this is all about. However, it's not that difficult to put two and two together, especially when he ends up following them into a dark alley in some obscure district of Tokyo. The purpose of this peculiar meeting becomes even more obvious when one of the men pulls out a package wrapped in newspapers.

While his intention isn't to scare the girl, he can't let her approach this group, which she's been planning to do, from what he has seen.]

I wouldn't recommend going alone.

[Keeping his voice down, Hibiki shifts his gaze from the people to Lux. He's just a few steps behind her, so if she's going to do something reckless, he may try stopping her.]

[ Didn't you know it was rude to sneak up on someone!

Says the woman who has been sneaking around and tailing people for quite some time now, whoops.

It was true, Hibiki caught the slight blond off-guard and, taking a sharp yet quiet breath as he spoke, Lux spun quickly to face him, immediately on the defensive. You're not exactly doing yourself any favors as far as not looking just as shady as these two "gentlemen" she was following, buddy, and while her posture does not seem to ease, she does let her eyes wander away from him for a moment.

But only a moment. ]

I know that.

[ She's well aware what she looks like, how badly something like that would go, and scowling as her gaze went from the deal to the man nearby, she exhaled sharply from her nose. ]

But I can't let this just happen without doing something about it. It isn't right. What if someone were to get hurt? I couldn't stand for it.

[Lux could see a ghost of a smile when she turned to him, albeit only for a short while.]

I'm glad you do.

[Until now, he was sure he'll be dealing with a reckless girl, but being wrong doesn't bother him that much. Or maybe he just made a hasty judgment, given what she said. Well, at least she has her reasons.

Good reasons, on top of that. Yet, Hibiki sighs softly.]

First of all, do you have any weapons on you?

[personal profile] rememberher 2017-02-07 02:40 am (UTC)(link)
[ A fist clenched at her side, she couldn't very well carry her sword readily on her person. She had something with which to defend herself, but— ]

Nothing useful against more than one person.

[ And even then, that was debatable. Her hand-to-hand skills left a bit to be desired. She knew where this was going. ]

I see. That's really unfortunate.

[He'd appreciate a helping hand during the confrontation—that group of men is by no means small.]

I think we may have a chance, but... [A pause. Something tells him that Lux may not like this idea.] How would you feel about being a decoy?

[At least he's trying to be polite about it...if that helps with anything...]

[personal profile] rememberher 2017-02-09 10:15 pm (UTC)(link)
[ You know.

Under any other circumstances, this guy might well have gotten a piece of her mind, but loathe as she was to admit it, he did have a point. Dammit. ]

Do I have a choice?

[ Her attention straying away from Hibiki toward the deal about to take place, she drew her lips together in a long, fine line. ]

What do you need me to do?

[Either that or staying out of it, these seem to be the two options Hibiki can think of. And as far as he's concerned, he doesn't even have to say it out loud—one look at her expression is more than enough to realize that.]

Just what you wanted to do in the first place. Approach them and try talking to them to divert their attention. Just let me know when you'll be ready.

[It can't be considered an elaborate plan, which bothers him a little.]

I know I'm asking for a lot, but I assure you that I won't let any of them lay a single finger on you.
