January CR Meme

Character: Dana Scully
About: Skeptical FBI special agent and forensic pathologist trying to adjust to this whole crazy "you're a magic ghost now" idea. Just, please, nobody start talking aliens.
God/Shinki: Shinki
Plans: Settling in, learning about the various ideas and theories going around, maybe breaking into a hospital to check out some ex-zombies... you know, just X-Files things. Her god is Brad Crawford, so I'd absolutely love extended Weiss CR!

She's probably not going to be as interested in slice-of-life stuff, but she's got some things to do for settling in, too: buying some decent clothes, for one thing, so she's not stuck with a choice of swimsuit or hospital gown for day-to-day wear.

Wanted CR: Fellow skeptics, trolls, people her age or older she can unwind a bit around and not feel like she has to be the adult? (I'm loving the CR she's got with several younger characters already and would like to round it out!) Casual dinner dates in the late 20s+ age range would be great, too. Can't investigate 24/7, after all....
Unwanted CR: Scully's not great with "let's make friends by punching!" -- given her background she tends to take violence pretty seriously, so while I'm totally OK with violence, it'll wind up with her having a strongly negative opinion of whoever started the fight; be warned.

Character: Cho Hakkai
About: Former mild-mannered preschool teacher, current mass-murdering demon with a Buddhist high priest as his parole officer. He usually still looks polite and mild-mannered, at least, but it is not a good idea to provoke him too far.
God/Shinki: Shinki
Plans: Hakkai's currently pretty upset over losing the rest of the ikkou, since he believes that gods and shinki who disappear are probably either dead or their souls are being used for some mysterious darker purpose -- he does not buy into the "they go back home" story and so basically thinks he's the only survivor/only one of his friends not being imprisoned and magically tormented, and it's up to him to rescue or avenge them.

He's recently finished spiffing up an abandoned temple that he's secretly using for storage of things he'd rather not see disappear and openly making available for anyone who wants a place to teach and/or study any subject they like.

Currently, Ukoku Sanzo is his god (and unsubtly encouraging his murderous revenge impulses) but he's going to wind up with Kozukata Yuri after that; long-term, so likely in a few more months, I plan to switch him over from shinki to god via canon update to current Reload Blast timeline.
Wanted CR: If you are interested in getting the maximally alarming interpretation of current game events: Hakkai currently thinks there's a person or persons unknown using the souls that have become new gods and shinki as part of a power play to permanently depose or destroy Amaterasu, that it's probably one of her advisers, and that the new gods and shinki are thus going to be targets for Amaterasu/her advisers if they cause trouble and targets for the Unidentified Enemy if they become too helpful. He will gladly spill this theory in detail to anyone who asks.

He's upset enough that he's not going to be a very good mentor figure at the moment, but he could definitely wind up relying on emotionally steady and unflappable types, especially if they wouldn't be shocked by his implying he's considering a maddened murder rampage through the old gods.
Unwanted CR: You'll probably want to keep the cute, innocent children and incurable optimists away from him unless they have existing CR, at least until he calms down a little.

Anything Else?:

I just realized that when he disappears for his canon update Yuri is going to be thinking he def. made himself a target with all his theories and stuff and absolutely panic. A tackle hug might in store when he turns up again SHE'LL BE SO SCARED. This is fine.

Frankly Hakkai expects the hammer to come down at some point, so he can't blame her for making the same assumption.

It occurs to me that Sharak should probably get CR with Scully?? I've never actually seen X-Files but that sounds like the sort of thing I should be going after.

As far as Hakkai goes I have nothing in specific besides a general desire for them to hang out and maybe take a fucking chill pill (unlikely). She's here for conspiracy theories, at least? And for worrying about Genjo and co. She'll be very relieved when he gets around to his canon update (less relieved if it involves mentioning "Yeah, that whole Nataku thing got worse before it got better/it didn't get better").

Oh hell yes. Scully will like her a lot. They can hang out and snarl under their breath about the idiots surrounding them...

... And Hakkai is sadly unlikely to chill at any point, but he will be glad to share the conspiracy theories and thrilled to have someone to worry with. ~~I'll have to see what we learn before I do that canon update.~~

We'll have to throw them at each other next chance we get.

... Can Hakkai chill for long enough to have tea and share weird humour for five minutes? They can do that and worry about the boys at the same time. They're capable people.

Hell yes. It sounds like the bodies have all been cleared away by the Heavens, so they won't have the chance to actually examine any, but they can look for some! It'll be fun.

Also Scully will feel far more at home in a morgue than in the Heavens, let's be honest here.

Hakkai's already half adopted Chikusa. He's smart and hard to rattle: an excellent combination indeed.

What leads to a full adoption? Is it attempted murder?

No, no, attempted murder is nothing special....

... I think the official adoption is "when he finds himself in the position of threatening or actually committing cold-blooded murder in Chikusa's defense."

....I am curious to what event will lead to this happening, because I feel like with the things Chikusa gets into, something will.

I need all the CR all around. Nami at both of yours-- we talked Scully and Nami already, and Hakkai's theory sounds great. Give her ample evidence and honestly it sounds like the kind of plot that would happen in her canon, and it'd be great to get her involved in a rebel plot of some kind. She won't kill or advocate killing but sign her up for creating trouble for whoever is likely behind these soul abductions.

And obviously extended Weiss CR for Scully represent o7

Yes! Absolutely. Hakkai'll be happy to explain the theory to her, with supporting evidence... the more support he can get for finding out who is behind them, the happier he'll be.

(and yes! I think she'll like Omi -- I have to toss her in his direction this month.)

Awww, yeah do! I'll hopefully get a toplevel going for him next event since I skipped him this month.

I need to get back to Hakkai, and will do so shortly, but as I do more here's hoping we can get some fun interactions.

Hakkai's very fond of Chikusa, so he'll have to be the Scary Friend at Chikusa's god a little, just on general principles.

... She's going to be deeply annoyed and embarrassed about the fact that she's apparently now a kept woman, but it's far from the biggest problem she has with this shinki thing, so hey!)
