TEST DRIVE # 12



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Daring Drinks

A couple of local bars are going out of their way to make new and interesting drinks for their customers to try, in a long-standing war between the two bars. Of course, they're going a little off the rails, so there are some very interesting - and somewhat scary - combinations popping out of the woodworks. And they want everyone passing by to try them.

Electric Eels

An odd ayakashi is causing some of the eels at the local aquarium to become literally electric, causing the eels to shock the other inhabitants in their tanks. This is causing a pretty big uproar and if it isn't fixed soon, someone could die or the aquarium might even just shut down entirely.

Frog Friend

Large frogs are popping up all over the place and following people around. They don't seem malicious in any way, but they are kind of creepy to look at, brightly colored, and leave trails of slippery goo wherever they stand. Oh, and they like to jump at people and knock them over, just for fun.

Gaseous Grandpas

A local home for older men is having a problem with a number of their inhabitants where they literally cannot stop farting and belching. It turns out this is the work of an ayakashi that just thinks farts and burps are funny and knows it's easier to get those sorts of things out of old people. Help the poor old guys out, would you?

Horrifying Hentai

Many known otaku in the area are dealing with a rather terrifying problem - every hentai they watch lately comes into reality very suddenly. Sometimes this means cute, begging girls, sure, but it also means tentacles and aliens and a whole rash of other things too. You'll have to stop the ayakashi that is bringing these 'fantasies' to life in order to save these guys.

[ Fire powers? Berserker of Schwarz wouldn't have been impressed by simple fire powers.

The shinki Farfarello is only dubiously impressed. Thinking that it might be illusory fire, he reaches out for it, trying to grab it or pass his fingers through it or really whatever he can get away with. ]

[Flustered and more than a little tipsy, Felicia squeezed Lara's hand in her own and looked up with literal stars in her eyes. With the confusing turn of affairs that her mind was still trying to sort out, she hadn't given much thought to where she would be staying for the time being-- and Lara seemed to almost be like some benevolent angel with her kind offer of shelter and warmth in the haze that had settled over Felicia's mind. Stumbling out of her chair, Felicia giggled in her embarrassment and regarded Lara in a way that suggested that she saw no one else in the room...

This girl was a very inexperienced drunk, and it showed in the unhindered trust she felt for the woman.]

Yes, let's!

[She agreed, grinning from ear to ear.

Whatever was to come that night....it surely would be warm and sweet.]

But-- maybe we both should have been paying more attention!

[If this man had been trying to catch that frog Felicia was trying to befriend, then shouldn't he have been more aware of his surroundings as well?]

Oh~! There's gotta be something we can do so we don't ruin this net!

[Unbeknownst to Felicia in her panic, the slime beneath them was starting to freeze...]

[She was definitly friendly, especially since so many people in this bar tended to forget about her existance the moment they turned away. It was lonely and awkward-- and Felicia grew frustrated with having to continually get someone's attention.

This nice stranger was more than welcome company for her that evening.]

A drink with berries in it...? [She trailed, dreamily imagining what that combination must have been like.]

I think I would like to try it! Uhm....but, I admit, I don't really have much experience with these things. Is having some water really okay?

[GRAVITY. Well, he's nothing if not up to the challenge and he had an innate knack for magic anyway, this one just worked a little differently than he was used to, and required being rather up close and personal. Carefully he steps around puddles and wet spots - silk soaked water fast after all and wet feet wouldn't be fun for him either.

The ayakashi seems aware that the game is up too, settling further and deeper into the water, but as Xehanort makes a scramble for the top of the tank and plunges a hand into the water, simple gravity means it's not staying where it wants to, instead dragged upwards, thrashing in angry protest. Touching these things is never a good idea, but he's going to anyway. Blight can be handled later!]

[ All shinki "rend", or so Phantom Thief Genius has been led to understand. Trust her, if she didn't think the phrase was a requirement of the genre, she'd have improvised. "Ebony Revolution! Pure Wild Dance!" has such a nice ring to it.

As the ayakashi disperses, Genius lands, twirls the scythe, and plants it on the ground next to her. Right, that's done. Time to go. ] Revert, Deux.

[ You're just going to have to put up with her using that for your name, too. ]

That's what I thought too. But they're certainly not normal frogs either. Could ayakashi be influencing them in some way?

[Can they do that? Is there a textbook somewhere about ayakashi? That would be really useful.]</small.

[Best as she can, she tries to tug him towards one in particular. It looks sturdy, if nothing else, and that’s one of the important things.]

Well, let’s hope that they just get blackout drunk and make different questionable life choices that aren’t drinking more of these, and just… You know. Losing your pants. Things like that.

[There’s probably going to be a lot of ridiculous stories that will come from tonight, but, oh well. That’s what happens, she supposes. Watching as various people get worried about the things they’re drinking, she taps her foot.]

...Do you think any of the gods are going to get prayers about hangovers in the morning?

[Hey, people pray for all sorts of reasons, right? Sometimes it’s serious, which she can respect: wanting someone to be safe, wanting a business to succeed, things like that. But then, well, there’s plenty of prayers for the more asinine, and she’s pretty sure that they’re going to happen in the morning.]

[Frankly, Wendy hadn’t been happy about the “being on his feet” thing either at first, but she’s getting over it. Being in her vessel form is a… weird experience, and while she’s still generally still aware of a lot of things- and being able to see from all directions is pretty handy too- it’s not as bad as she was really expecting.]

[Easier to communicate, too, amusement at his first statement, concern and disapproval flickering through when he just out and grabs the ayakashi. He’s always doing this- one day she’s going to sit him down and have a long talk about needlessly hurting himself even if it’s in the pursuit of something interesting.]

[He glances back to the ceiling; to the sounds of whatever horrors are happening upstairs.]

[ That offer has him turning to look at him as he turns it over in his mind and after a moment he lets his gaze shift away from him. ]

[ Otabek spares a few glances his way when the other is busy placing the eels in the tank. He knows the rules of this place, the gods were sworn to keep the shinki's from remembering their past. And yet... he didn't realize the enormity of the burden placed on them until he saw with is own eyes an icon of his world. ]

[ Well, some people may be wary of the drink combinations, but not Orihime. She's more than happy to promote them--she's practically bubbling over with enthusiasm, a big smile stretching across her face. ]

Everyone, come get your prickly pear bacon shots! They may sound strange, but it's delicious! [ Or: ] Blueberry pancake dill pickle cocktails! Try them--they're free!

[ Here's Orihime looking like she's concentrating very hard. And she is: She's attempting to sneak up on a particularly large frog. Her eyebrows are furrowed in concentration, her lips pursed. ]

[ This is... one of the less pleasant missions she's been on. But!! She has a thing to do, and it's very important. These poor grandpas are having a heck of a time, and she has a backpack full of medicine. It's just getting close enough without passing out that's the issue... ]

Ahh... maybe we could throw them the medicine... But then they might get hurt by the bottles...
