TEST DRIVE # 12



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Daring Drinks

A couple of local bars are going out of their way to make new and interesting drinks for their customers to try, in a long-standing war between the two bars. Of course, they're going a little off the rails, so there are some very interesting - and somewhat scary - combinations popping out of the woodworks. And they want everyone passing by to try them.

Electric Eels

An odd ayakashi is causing some of the eels at the local aquarium to become literally electric, causing the eels to shock the other inhabitants in their tanks. This is causing a pretty big uproar and if it isn't fixed soon, someone could die or the aquarium might even just shut down entirely.

Frog Friend

Large frogs are popping up all over the place and following people around. They don't seem malicious in any way, but they are kind of creepy to look at, brightly colored, and leave trails of slippery goo wherever they stand. Oh, and they like to jump at people and knock them over, just for fun.

Gaseous Grandpas

A local home for older men is having a problem with a number of their inhabitants where they literally cannot stop farting and belching. It turns out this is the work of an ayakashi that just thinks farts and burps are funny and knows it's easier to get those sorts of things out of old people. Help the poor old guys out, would you?

Horrifying Hentai

Many known otaku in the area are dealing with a rather terrifying problem - every hentai they watch lately comes into reality very suddenly. Sometimes this means cute, begging girls, sure, but it also means tentacles and aliens and a whole rash of other things too. You'll have to stop the ayakashi that is bringing these 'fantasies' to life in order to save these guys.

Daring Drinks
[ Two different people from two bars were trying to push drinks on him. He's polite but not too polite to refuse--though he does like to drink one in a while at least. But... The first one is a very slimy-looking drink. Its contents are completely unidentifiable and it only looks like a very suspicious mixture. The other one And it has flowers in it. That one looks less suspicious but he doesn't really know much about flowers.

He accepts the clear one at least, it looks less suspicious and all. He's not going to drink it all right away though, he's not that foolish. ]

It might need more cinnamon. It's definitely missing something. What do you think?

[ He likes adding cinnamon to things, so that's what he thinks. He offers the glass to someone else close by, seeking another opinion. If he can make a conversation happen, he can at least try to avoid trying the slimy drink. ]


Frog Friend
[ He has no problem avoiding the frogs one, two, a few at a time, but when they decide to gang up on him just because he's fast and agile and it seems fun or...something... Down he goes, covered in slimy frogs. ]

Ah, no, wait a--wah!!

[ They're crushing him. One would think being covered in slime would make it easier to wiggle his way to freedom but apparently not when they're everywhere. ]

[This seems.... all too familiar. Sure, it was years ago, but Rin remembered that day. Reapers? More like Leapers. These lacked a nice convenient leash to tug on, though. So, instead, the strange catlike, winged God is scaling Mt. Frog so he can try and sit on its head... maybe poke its eyes. You know. Something, ANYTHING, to distract it from the humans]

Look, don't make me turn you into grilled frog legs. Get out of here! Shoo!

[Rin has seen some Shit. Between home, and his years in Ryslig, he's seen horrifying things. Terrible things. Been responsible for some of those things, even.

But this?

This was too much.

He is positive he just saw a monstrous blob of flesh with... various body parts all over it. Appendages and openings and a fleshy coloration and a moaning cry...

Nope. Nope. NOPE.

He's just going to find a bench to lie down on and... look at the sky. His eyes are blank and his cheeks are bright red. Never again.]

[Ugh. Wheat grass and alcohol shots are definitely not to Nari's liking. He's barely swallowed one when something even more vile looking is handed to him. Why does it look like gravy? Who knows.]

I swear, this is going to kill me. Death by Thanksgiving and vodka. [After this statement, he throws the drink back and immediately regrets it.] That is not gravy... Gross. What the hell is in this?!

[The bartender informs him that the mixture is bacon grease, milk, and rum. If he remembered he was German, Nari would definitely look way more offended than he does now. It's taking a lot for him to keep his temper in check right now. Someone might want to pull him away.]

Frog Friend
[Despite having been jumped on by one of these large frogs, Nari is just chilling there, waving at passerby's as he tries to downplay the distress he's in. The distress stems from that goo slowly sinking into his hoodie and shirt. It felt downright disgusting. Still, can't make it look like you are suffering all because of of a harmless animal, nay, amphibian.]

Move along! Nothing to see here!

[Nothing offends the sensibilities more than... well... whatever it is he's watching flailing about. Looks like tentacles, but with little nubby things at the end? Nari knows he should probably wait for a god and their shinki to come along, because who knows where his own is. They'll take care of this. Meanwhile he's just going to keep watching it wave around, taking careful steps back as it keeps trying to encroach on his space.]

I will congratulate whoever created you, and then maybe shove them out a window. You are, my dear tentacle thing, one ugly motherfucker.

[ Well, some people may be wary of the drink combinations, but not Orihime. She's more than happy to promote them--she's practically bubbling over with enthusiasm, a big smile stretching across her face. ]

Everyone, come get your prickly pear bacon shots! They may sound strange, but it's delicious! [ Or: ] Blueberry pancake dill pickle cocktails! Try them--they're free!

[ Here's Orihime looking like she's concentrating very hard. And she is: She's attempting to sneak up on a particularly large frog. Her eyebrows are furrowed in concentration, her lips pursed. ]

[ This is... one of the less pleasant missions she's been on. But!! She has a thing to do, and it's very important. These poor grandpas are having a heck of a time, and she has a backpack full of medicine. It's just getting close enough without passing out that's the issue... ]

Ahh... maybe we could throw them the medicine... But then they might get hurt by the bottles...

[Even though Yamamoto was soaked to the bone, it didn't look like his baggy and wet clothing was weighing him down any as he tried ( somewhat successfully at points and unsuccessfully at others ) to create boundaries between the eels and the other occupants of the fish tanks.]

[He seemed to be trying to make shapes with his boundaries with minimal success. Help a guy out.]


[ FROG FRIEND ]

[Anyone who made their way to the park today was in for a weird sight. A tall, gangly boy was playing what looked like tag with a slippery, goo making frog. Every time the frog leapt at him, he laughed and dodged out of the way except for the times the frog caught him square on the chest and sent him tumbling down with an 'oof!'. Once he caught his breath, he got up to try to tag the frog back, and back and forth it went.

If he caught you watching, he'd grin widely and wave.]

[To make it look even more appealing, the frog most likely was going to head butt him hard in the chest and knock him over.]

[That sure was a gaggle of scantily clad, cat eared girls crowding around one embarrassed looking teen who was bright red and trying to look anywhere but their jiggling assets. They kept coyly tugging at his clothes, and he was doing his best to fend them off without upsetting them.

He looked through the crowd, trying to find someone, anyone, before his eyes locked on someone else.

so when you see him today, you might just notice how thoroughly grossed out he looks as he maintains his arm height at his torso. )

But at the same time, the bartender had looked so desperate, Ava had had a difficult time turning him down. She had--and still does--disapproved, but if it's to people who obviously are old enough, it's not too bad, right?

If you're old enough, she'll flag you down and offer a drink of... questionable ingredients. ]
