TEST DRIVE # 10

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Terrible Twos

There is an oddly large number of toddlers running around the streets without adults around to keep them in check. This is probably because they've all gotten scared to the point of abandoning all reason by the sights and sounds of the horrifying tentacled ayakashi that is preying specifically on young children. Help keep the children in line, or just go kill the ayakashi. Your choice.

Unused Umbrellas

After being untouched for a hundred years, most inanimate objects will form a malevolent spirit. That's the case with kasa-obake, umbrella yokai. And it's not uncommon to see kasa-obake around either. They're out in droves with the rainy weather, blowing open in people's faces, falling over in front of them to trip them up, anything to startle or harm the Near Shore residents. Your job is to entertain and quell the raucous spirits. Or get rid of them.

Vivid Videos

An interesting video is making the rounds on the Near Shore. Anyone who watches it is so engrossed in the textures, lighting, and story that they wind up seeing the real world as nothing but black and white after their viewing. Everything seems dull and unreal to them afterward, and any attempts to watch the video a second time end in failure. It's likely that there's something causing these people to lose their luster of life - an ayakashi, perhaps?

Walking Wigglers

Surprise! A number of snakes in local areas have suddenly sprouted legs - two legs, to be exact, that allow them to stand up straight like a person - and are running around excitedly on their newfound limbs. They are rather unused to not slithering, though, so they keep running into things and causing chaos wherever they go - possibly because a lot of people are terrified of snakes running around like it's normal. Please wrangle the snakes up so scientists can figure out how this happened.

Xenomorphic Xylocarps

Another scientifically strange anomaly has occurred on the island nation of Japan. A new breed of coconuts has suddenly sprouted up out of nowhere. There are dozens upon dozens of trees littering the beaches and dumping coconuts all over the sand. Not only is it strange for this time of year, but the coconuts are a sickly green in color and pear-shaped. See if you can figure out the secrets of the coconuts - or maybe just figure out if the coconuts are delicious.

Yeah. Your temple is in the Far Shore!

[It'll probably be very nice and warm there. Roxas will definitely visit as much as he's allowed and take Sora along with him.]

It's mostly that our temples will be closer together than Sora's and mine are since he's a Norse god.

[He snorts.]

Do I look like one? You're not the only guy who is a goddess. No one here cares.

Sora, huh? He's here too?

[Axel doesn't sound as bitter about that as he could. He's gotten over a lot of his anger with Sora, and having both him and Roxas here... well, it helps further. He doesn't have to lose his friend to Sora anymore, and that... well, it helps.

On the other hand, what if he remembers what Axel did for him? If Sora remembers the sacrifice he made, he could tell Roxas. Axel does not want his secrets revealed so soon. Or by anyone other than him.]

I dunno, you look a little womanly around the hips...

[Axel tips his head, a shit-eating grin spreading across his face?]

He showed up the same day I did. I'm really glad he did.

[Roxas can't hide the affection in his voice for his other half. It's up to Axel if he wants to ask about that.

As for memories... Sorry. Roxas knows everything Sora knows. Sora knows all of Roxas' memories, too. After all, the Mark of Mastery test was the only chance Roxas had to share and make Sora truly aware of his Nobody. He won't mention that he knows about the sacrifice. Not yet.

The comment makes Roxas blush as he huffs.]

No way! My hips do not look womanly!

[Frankly, Axel gets it. Sora's a good kid, and when he finds out about him and Roxas, he's probably going to be the biggest shipper this side of the great divide.]

You should probably lay off the ice cream, then, because those are some definite curves!

[He can't help it, his grin just spreads.

Gods above (can they even use oaths like that?), he missed this.]

[Yup. Roxas can see it now when Axel finds out. Please don't make things awkward.

He pats his own hips and just looks somewhat mortified. Is this something he should be worried about because he knows he's been pretty inactive in this place... and then he glares at Axel.]

You're way curvier than me!

[Would look better in a dress, too.]

[That glare just sets him to laughing. He tries to look indignant, but the chuckling totally throws it off.]

I'm skinny, it's totally different!

[~~The organization uniform is basically a dress, let's be real.~~]

[Hope you don't mind your friend having gotten a lot bolder over his year and a half away from home. He grabs and squeezes Axel's sides.]

........ you need to eat more.

Hey, hey! Hands off the merchandise!

[He steps back, almost tripping over a coconut. Roxas, that's a little too friendly.]

I eat fine! I just have a fast metabo-whatsit.

[He busts up laughing.]

Metabolism! And you're acting just like a girl. Now who's womanly.

[Blame Sora for Roxas getting handsy sometimes.]

Yeah, that! And still you, mothering like that!

[He tries to act affronted, but it breaks down, dissolving into laughter to match Roxas's. Damn, this is nice. He missed this. But he's not going to say that, not when his manhood is under question.]

Mothering? [Hate to break it to you-] You're way more a mom! Also Hestia is Artemis' aunt.

[He nudges Axel with a grin.] I think I'll like calling you Auntie Axel.

You're totally mothering me! Who else worries about how I eat?

[Not that Axel has seen his mom in a very, very long time... He's not going to let such sobering thoughts stop his fun, though.]

Does that make you my niece, then? Can I at least be the cool aunt?

[Two can play at that game.]

Once you spend time with some of the idiots here you'll mother people too.

[Seriously. Roxas has two shinki that are like little kids to take care of and still make sure Sora took care of himself.]

Hmmm... I think you have to pass a test for that first. I know some pretty cool people who are family to me.

I don't get any bonus credit for being cool back home?

[He's definitely gunning for the "cool aunt" position now. Watch him take it too seriously. Or as seriously as Axel takes anything ever, anyway.]

You? Cool? I don't know what you're talking about.

[Ugh Roxas has definitely missed being able to joke around like this with Axel. It's so easy to offend people in this place...]

Roxas! You wound me!

[He places a hand over his general heart region and another against his brow in a pose meant to indicate injury. It's kind of ruined by the dorky grin on his face.]

Breaking my non-existent heart here!

[He snorts before laughing.]

You're such a drama-queen.

Eh-eh. Drama goddess. I outrank queens.

[He says, grinning the whole while, before laughing himself. This is good for both of them.]
