TEST DRIVE # 08



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Junky Jokes

There is a small spirit girl who is determined to hear some funny jokes before she passes on to the next life. Your job is to come up with some horribly bad, wonderfully funny jokes to make her laugh. Be warned, though, she's got a very serious face that's hard to crack.

Knights Knives

The swords of the knights at a local museum's exhibit have gone missing. They are praying for them to be returned because these swords are worth so much and such a great part of history. Hopefully you'll be able to find them, because otherwise those prayers are going to someone else.

Ludicrous Lightning

There's been a streak of heat lightning going on. It's so intense that sometimes the lightning will light up the night sky as if it were day and there have been numerous power outages in the area. Go help out the people who are without power and make sure that everyone can still live as normally as possible!

More Money

Who doesn't need more money? A little convenience store needs help since all of their employees have fallen ill at the same time. They're offering double wages to anyone who will work for them. Unfortunately, the store is a hot spot for misfortune and ghouls of various kinds. Have fun!

Neon Nourishment

Surprise! A very American man is shoving neon bright candy and cakes at everyone who will stop for even a moment, and he easily notices all Far Shore residents as well. Which means every time you pass him, you'll be getting more and more of this hideously colored food. Enjoy~

I got everything too. I didn't know how much we needed or how much were were gonna make, so I grabbed as much as I could fit!

Here, do you want it? You should take it, and I'll take yours!

[She'll take Hanayo's stack of sweets and leave her the red bean.

It's a very big pile of sweets, and she's not that tall a girl.]

[Ahh, okay, that answer was cute in its... well, anyway! Zeno laughs.]

Not a bad guess! Not at all!

[He peeks back at the little ghost, to see if she might be willing to laugh at poor Urashima...

nope.]

It's a man outstanding in his field!!

[He elbows Urashima. Plz laugh.]

[Mai watches the arch of the bag as it flies away, a brow quirked. She doesn't seem particularly worried about it though.

She gives the man a shrug after that, waving a hand. He's in her space so he gets a good frown for his efforts as well, though she doesn't back away just yet.]

I don't really care who takes it, just as long as I don't have to deal with it. I don't really care for candy.

Kisumi! [He smiles towards him, briefly distracted from the ghoul, but only briefly.]

A-ah...well...

It's been staring at me for a while now and it's pretty scary. What do I do about it?

[That's a lot of good advice! He smiles brightly at that.]

That's also a good idea. If humans haven't seen him, then he might be a spirit of some kind and we can help him out.

[Well that was a thing. He just watches as the ghoul gets a nice lathering.

That just serves to agitate it and it starts to move towards them.]

Waaaah!

[He starts running away from the ghoul.]

What should we do?! That didn't work!

Maybe we can try being a comedy duo. Those are usually funny, aren't they?

[But how to even go about that? Could they just come up with something silly on the spot?]

[Wow, he just some big buttons pushed. Good thing shinkis can't feel what a god does because he...does have issues with those words. Slave and property were just not ones he tried to even think about, preferring to work with them and even going in their level.

Strange that a ruler did such things but Aymeric has always been seen as an oddball.

But that smile changes as his face becomes much more neutral, staring straight into her eyes.]

Are you afraid of what we must do while inside or do you believe yourself above assisting those in need?

[She pauses there as she keeps walking, adding in a moment later:]

That's way too many swords to go missing suddenly and all at once. No one is going to make it out of this place with all of them at once so they're bound to still be around here.

[ Without any warning, Miu tosses the bag at him. ]

Be my guest. It's bad for my figure, anyway.

A young child says to his mother, "Mom, when I grow up I'd like to be a musician." She replies, "Well honey, you know you can't do both."

[After that joke leaves her lips, Sheryl can feel the silence growing stronger, so thick that she can cut it with a knife. Frankly even she knows it's unfunny despite how certain she sounded earlier. The girl in front of them is shaking her head, not a single laughter.

Annoyed, Sheryl lets out an exasperated groan.]

Who even created this joke? It's not even funny! More importantly, why can't I just entertain you with song instead? Much better than lame humor.

[She turns to Mirage, an expected look all over her face.]

Am I right?

[ Hummm. ] You seem to be more familiar with him than me. [ She knows the Greek pantheon. Not the... whoever the Japanese one is. ]

Tell me, do you think he'll mind a bit of sport? His lightening isn't really hitting any of its marks.

[It's still a little odd being around Miu like this, unable to actually talk about anything they went through back home. It makes her heart hurt, but running away all the time just makes it worse.

But why cliffs? Why was it always cliffs.

She examines the sword with a thoughtful frown.] Do you think if we tried to pull it together...? [Well. Maybe not. But an attempt could be made.]

[You must be new here. That's when it finally clicks, everything the person explained when she woke up, Nagi acting like he doesn't know who she is...he doesn't.

Oh, she's really not happy about that at all. There may be a few dark clouds gathering over their heads as she squeezes her rabbit tight.]

[It takes a lot for anything to phase him, though he just kinda grins at getting waved at. Sure, she looked tough and all, but him and self-preservation never saw eye-to-eye on anything. Also he is as much like a cat as his appearance made him look in that the more someone tried to be disinterested towards him, the more he wanted to screw around with them.]

Ah~h. If that's the case, just dump it on someone else, yah? Ain't like there aren't a few random strangers you can give it to.

[What does he know about her that he won't tell her. It gives her a chill just to think about asking him, but it's still infuriating.

Huffing, Brady crosses her arms and rolls her eyes.] Fine. Let's go to the manager's office. Sooner we do that, sooner we can get back to your temple and I can wash off all this pissing and moaning. They're probably creating an ayakashi as we speak.

[Tsuzuki, it doesn't matter what you do or what you say. For Brady Truebridge, anger isn't an emotion -- it's a way of life.]

[If she had her memories, she'd take issue with those words too, and she'd know that this is child's play compared to holding her own in a board room full of rich old men (and one other woman) who are used to looking down their noses at Brady because she didn't go to university, wasn't born rich, and isn't white.

As it stands, she stares right back at Aymeric, holding her ground.]

I believe that this is stupid. You don't need me in there with you to fight monsters. You can't even make a kill with me. [Must she repeat herself. Jesus.] Best you'll manage is scaring 'em out onto the street.

If they do, we can take care of that on our way out! C'mon.

[He heads left. It's weirdly easy escaping from the crowd of disgruntled tenants; as soon as they're out of line of sight, the mortals start complaining to each other instead, as if they'd never been there at all.

Man, they forget fast. Tsuzuki tries the door from the lobby into the office, and makes a face. Of course it's locked.

Okay, so. We'll have to do this the fancy way.

[He holds out a hand for Brady to take. If they can teleport just inside the door, they won't have to worry about lockpicking or anything like that.]

Whoa! [Tsuzuki grabs frantically for the bag, and manages to snag it, although with far more flailing and windmilling of arms than is strictly necessary.]

Uh, thanks. ... I bet it's not going to mess with your figure, though.

[He straightens up again, tucking the bag of taffy under one arm, and winks at her.]

'Cause you're either a god or a shinki, right?

[She'd noticed him first.]

[Patchouli is good at this because she's spent much of her life using little to no electricity, despite having been born around, basically, the birth of the use of electricity. So she's helping people with that part. Inasmuch as she can, at least.

She basically just happens to wander out of the house right next to the one Lightning was in by pure chance.]

Mm? Are you here to help with the power outage issue, too?

I'm pretty sure you did that for me actually.

[And there she hitches her thumb in the direction of the thrown bag. The person it managed to hit is looking around like they're just searching for someone to chew out about it but they are holding the bag.

She gives him an arched, pleased smile. If he's catlike then Mai isn't far off herself, at least with her current smirk.]

I suggest you take off though. They'll notice you eventually.
