TEST DRIVE # 08



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Junky Jokes

There is a small spirit girl who is determined to hear some funny jokes before she passes on to the next life. Your job is to come up with some horribly bad, wonderfully funny jokes to make her laugh. Be warned, though, she's got a very serious face that's hard to crack.

Knights Knives

The swords of the knights at a local museum's exhibit have gone missing. They are praying for them to be returned because these swords are worth so much and such a great part of history. Hopefully you'll be able to find them, because otherwise those prayers are going to someone else.

Ludicrous Lightning

There's been a streak of heat lightning going on. It's so intense that sometimes the lightning will light up the night sky as if it were day and there have been numerous power outages in the area. Go help out the people who are without power and make sure that everyone can still live as normally as possible!

More Money

Who doesn't need more money? A little convenience store needs help since all of their employees have fallen ill at the same time. They're offering double wages to anyone who will work for them. Unfortunately, the store is a hot spot for misfortune and ghouls of various kinds. Have fun!

Neon Nourishment

Surprise! A very American man is shoving neon bright candy and cakes at everyone who will stop for even a moment, and he easily notices all Far Shore residents as well. Which means every time you pass him, you'll be getting more and more of this hideously colored food. Enjoy~

Hocus pocus fizzipocus! [Despite the rather silly sounding words, the girl didn't laugh. Really, she barely reacted at all.] ...No? Nothing? Not even a smile?

[Strange, she was so sure that would work for some reason. Oh well.]

[She was working separately from her god this time. While she felt a little bad about leaving them behind, this was a simple enough task for her to handle on her own. Gods were important people, and they no doubt had a lot of important stuff to do, so she was just lightening the load by doing this herself, she figured. Right? Yeah. She was going to be just fine!]

Hmmm. If I was a sword, where would I be?

[Ludicrous Lightning]

[To be perfectly honest, some fo the crashes of lightning were enough to startle her. Even worse, some of them even made her let out a yelp to match. How embarrassing!]

It sure is loud, isn't it? Haha...

[Arg Tsuzuki you weren't supposed to take her up on that! But then again, it's temple money she'll be using to pay, so it's not really on her after all.

Leaving the note and telling the mortals is his choice to do or not do. Brady has done her job here, and she acts as such, walking out with Tsuzuki with her head held high, as if she is the god and not the tool given to him.

Amaterasu is a real prick, but there's not much to be done about it. Tsuzuki doesn't seem bothered -- he wouldn't, would he, being that he's got the best end of the deal -- and she's not about to try and fight Heaven on her own.]

Peruvian. [The fuck does she know. His suggestions seem so common.] Thai, if Peruvian's too difficult for you to find.

[Yusuke has some knowledge of girls, even if he doesn't remember why, but like it's applicable in the case of a little girl.

Speaking of said girl, Yusuke looks over at her when Urashima starts his joke. She's interested at least. But Yusuke shrugs his shoulders. This is a joke he hasn't heard before.]

All right, I'll bite kid. What do call it?

[ Genos knows nothing about fun, so... ] Shouldn't you get your shinki here, then?

[ He asses the stone some more, before hitting it with huge force. The stone cracks, but it doesn't reach the sword. Genos' machinery whirs louder as he lands another hit that widens the break , but again sword is stuck firmly inside the untouched part. ]

[fingerbangs]

[He's still glaring but goes back to peeling the orange. He's trying to get one good large piece peeled off.]

Yeah, yeah. Whatever.

[Totally not believing that line. Kurama wouldn't be the first person to want to throw something at his head for any number of reasons.]

Pretty sure "other ideas" in this case means throwing more shit at me. [Stupid, not blind.]

Only some of them. [This Kurama says to the girl rather than Yusuke, and while it doesn't get a laugh he's pretty sure that's the beginnings of a smile. Maybe now she'll be ready for Yusuke's next trick? Kurama is, anyway.]

[That's all the reassurance he needs. The candy is shoved into his mouth and chew quickly. This is the best candy ever! Still chewing, he grins up at Urashima---until he mentions the source. Goten's posture stiffens a bit and he gives a nervous laugh, nearly choking on the candy before swallowing it.]

N-no, that's okay! You've already been really nice to give me your candy!

[Helping people? Yeahhhh, no, Judar has more important things to be doing. Things like dancing around in the middle of the storm, laughing at the damages and forgetting what empathy is.]

Hey, this is a pretty good show! But I bet I can do it even better.

[Someone really should tell him to stop, before he gets the bad idea to start adding to the lightning strikes with magic. He's just the type of punk who'd jump right on that bandwagon, and it shows in the manic glee on his face.]

Neon Nourishment

[Were you having a peaceful, quiet afternoon as you try to avoid the weird neon food-pushing man? That's too bad, because someone is ruining all of that with a piercing shriek of disgust. If your eardrums survive that, you'll be able to hear his normal-pitched yelling, which probably isn't much of an improvement.]

Are you trying to poison me!? I'm not eating this crap! I'm not stupid!

[That might be debatable, if you feel like jumping in. On the other hand, you might just want to dodge the candy he's throwing carelessly over his shoulder, right in your direction!]

Ahaha. Beautiful and destructive! It's too bad it's causing so much trouble... [Sanzang glances at Judar and tilts her head. JUST LIKE YOU JUDAR.] Anyway, if we work together, we can get it done twice as fast!

[On the one hand, pissing of the Heavens seems like a good time. The Heavens suck, he knows this without even thinking about it. They can fuck right off, and he's happy to help them do it.

On the other hand, he has no idea what he's up against here, so... Maybe he should hold off on doing that until he knows more. Not because he's scared, of course, and definitely not because he's learned caution after two years of being chased by monsters without most of his magic. He just wants to make sure he has the maximum amount of fun doing it when he gets there. Yeah, we'll go with that.

Besides, there's an implication that he's pretty and dangerous in there somewhere, he can feel it. That's ego-fueling enough for the moment.]

What, did everyone forget how to use candles around here? This is stupid... If they haven't figured out how to do that on their own, they're just going to forget how to breathe and die soon, anyway.

[Judar does not approve of this idea, no sirree. Work is boring, and helping people is so uncool. He makes the kind of face a little kid might when told to do chores.]
