Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:
1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

Echoing Endlessly
Many people in the area are complaining about a strange echo following them around. It never seems to go away and, in fact, collects more and more echoes with each passing moment, creating a cacophony of sound. There have been reports of a few people slowly going crazy because of this echoing. It's your job to find what's causing it and put an end to the echoes!
The new craze has swept over the city! Everything French is so in right now, and everyone wants something newer and Frenchier to make them stand out from the crowd. Just your luck, you happen to have something very French you can peddle - or maybe you can convince someone just how French your very Japanese things are!
A very strange old shinki has left you with a very simple request: guard this door and don't let anyone through. It looks like a totally normal door on a totally normal house! You might be curious to peek through it, but it's locked and you were told not to go through yourself either...
There's an ayakashi roaming around that is literally just hundreds of hands that randomly grab people and things and move them around before disappearing. The odd thing is that they are... actually doing good things? Maybe it's a scheme to suck people into a plagued afterlife without being caught, or maybe they just really want to help people out.
There's a certain street in the downtown area that has some of the craziest rumors being spread about it. Apparently going down this street will just bring you back to the entrance, but when you turn around to head back you'll only find yourself at the entrance again. Moreover, there are a lot of creepy things that whisper and appear as you walk, more with each turn you make...

If you're uncertain about anything, feel free to check out the Premise, Rules, and FAQ posts. And don't hesitate to ask any questions you might have on the FAQ!
When and if you're ready to join the game, check out the Taken Characters before throwing in a Reserve and starting on your Application
Have fun!
Irksome Illusions
[Hopefully you weren't too startled by the sudden introduction of a soft voice by a strange 14-year-old wandering out of one of the dark alleys. He's in a school uniform and doesn't look particularly threatening, at least...]
If it is, then we just need to exorcise it.
no subject
Even if that's all we need to do, how would we?
[Serious question. They can't just magically exorcise something without actually locating the spirit itself, right? Life would be so convenient if one could just tell an evil spirit to go away though.]

I don't think it's a psychic, at least.

[He taps his chin in thought. Unless they can somehow break out of the current situation through sheer force. He highly doubts they can do just that.]
Do you think we can dispel what's happening around us first?
no subject
[It's only just now occurred to him.]
If we do something strange, it might get angry.
no subject
I haven't.
[He didn't think to try scaling the walls at all.]
That's actually a pretty good idea. [Even if making things angry at them is probably stupid in thought, but needed in this situation.]

[He'll start abruptly floating up, and soon after, so will Keith. Psychic powers!]
no subject
[For what it's worth, he doesn't panic. If anything, he seems perfectly fine with the suddenly floating business. There's something familiar about it that he can't put his tongue as to why.]
And here I almost thought you were going to try to lift me.

[They're getting distracted though and he concentrates back on the fact that they're trying to stop whatever is causing this.] Hope this works.

[The first comment distracted Mob from the situation, so he doesn't notice the eerie visual distortion happening beneath them once they're hovering above the buildings. Seeing streets change and twist and turn is surreal, but Mob's just distracted thinking about getting back to muscle training.
At least that doesn't translate to Keith getting dropped or anything, since Mob's powers are rather subconscious for him.]
no subject
Woa-hey! I'm pretty sure that's new! [The streets changing was a good giveaway, but seeing the distortion beneath them was definitely something worth focusing on.]

[He's gonna totally fight it once he can. Because that's what he has to do, but also because he's the type who just fights. For better or worse.]
no subject
Be careful. It's getting riled up.
no subject
It'll be fine. I just have to be stronger than it, right?
[He's a little aware that he isn't completely sure how that's decided. If it's by will, then he's got a lot of that. He's a stubborn as hell kind of guy.]
We're both here anyways.
[He noticed the distortion is getting worse and something is starting to form.]

[He jumps down back into the alleyway. Like most Ayakashi, this one has taken the form of eye balls. So in the end, it takes a more common form. Still best not to underestimate it though.]

On the upside, it seems that Keith can form some pretty decent boundaries, but it's a defensive skill.]
I can't really fight it. [And Mob hitting it with debris is only doing so much.] How do we get rid of it?
