TEST DRIVE # 14

Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.

Noxious Neurotoxins

There's a few blocks of Tokyo that have been closed off completely and quarantined. It seems there's a deadly neurotoxin that's been detected in the area. But authorities claim there's no way that could have happened! Looks like this might be the work of an ayakashi. Try not to get infected.

Omnipresent Obituary

The same obituary has been showing up in the papers for the last three weeks. It's for a young boy who died in a car accident. Thing is, this accident happened more than twenty years ago. A little ghost boy is just looking for some attention by printing his own death announcement over and over again. Spend a little time with him, would you?

Pretentious Partner

A detective hailed as the greatest in his field has one heck of a time keeping a partner. But he needs one bad, so he's calling on random strangers to help him out. Unfortunately, he's very full of himself and not even that good at his job. Maybe that's why all his partners leave. It's up to you to help or hurt him!

Quick Quips

Time to step up to the mic and make some jokes. A local bar needs performers - specifically comedic ones. You'd better be quick with your jokes or the audience is going to boo you off the stage, and then you won't get the payment you've been promised for doing a good job! Oh, and this is a request from a devote follower, so you'll lose that support too.

Radical Roombas

Some off-the-wall ayakashi have possessed a number of Roombas and are busily terrorizing people on the streets. That's right - small, round, automated vacuum cleaners are bothering the people of Tokyo. What's more, some kid thought it would be funny to tape knives to some of them. Watch out for Stabby and try to take out the spirit possessing it.

1 - Your choice if he's Sessh's shinki or a random one

The so-called detective had indeed been more than annoying. Hell, it was taking more than the blond thought he had to not throw him across the city. However the Shinki also knew that the man was harmless. Also related to a prayer, which seemed important to try and carry out. At least, that's how it sounded from other people.

So when you see a God about to choke a helpless person to death, whether or not they were yours, it felt like you should do something.

"Oi," was the first thing he said when coming beside the long-haired God. Shizuo was thoroughly a human before having died and was just a few inches taller than Sesshoumaru. It still wasn't difficult for him to take a fistful of clothing and hair between the shoulder-blades to start lifting the demon-God up. "He's an annoying jackass, but he's still a life. So let him go already."

We can make him Sesshy's. For extra fun. :)

... Sesshomaru had never been picked up in his adult life. (We will kindly leave any puppy demon memories with mother to the side for now.) And more to the point, he'd never been so thoroughly disrespected by someone who was supposed to be serving him. Of course, it would be unbecoming of a God, and more importantly, of a demon of his stature to become needlessly flustered by such things. Yet, even so, this blatant disrespect could not stand. Only the human trapped in his grasp had witness the rage flare in his eyes momentarily.

Calmly, the God's hold tightened on the human for a moment, only to gain a proper grip for what was to come. Unceremoniously, the demon flung the human into the Shinki beside him. He was careful to keep the force from being fatal to the man, but injury was not a concern.

There. Now that he'd released the detective, perhaps that annoying stinging sensation would stop. "Insects possess lives as well. No one mourns them."

One would imagine that someone who jumped in front of a giant metal monster (also known as a Bullet Train) to save a child and kitten would also be the honorable type. You know, the kind of soul that understood the placement of a lord and servant. Unfortunately for this demon lord, he got someone who normally preferred to lounge around and take it easy, but had more of a hair-trigger temper than some half-breeds the lord knew, and had no recollection or understanding of the unusual strength he had. For a completely normal human, that is.

He also had some amazing fortitude for one, as well. For as the detective was flung into the blond, the force barely moved Shizuo an inch. Even more, he kept his hold on the God. With little actual concern for the injuries the now-sputtering man may have, he set both the detective and Lord down with the same amount of ease.

One could imagine that there was subtext in all of this. One could imagine that for a lot of what Shizuo did. Really, he just acted on what seemed like the thing to do.

"I dunno," he said while ignoring anything the living person may be doing, and probably looking right over... Honestly, Shizuo probably didn't remember much about the person they were supposed to tail. "There's probably someone out there that does. Maybe some kids."
