About: An extremely unlucky literature major who got turned into a people-eater because of some deluded doctor. All he wanted was a bookstore date, was that so much to ask? Kaneki is a gentle soul and a little too self-sacrificing, and he's pretty shy...until you get him talking about books. He'll light up like Christmas.
God/Shinki: God. He's Kuebiko.
Plans: Just getting him settled in. He's got a soulless shinki so I'd love to have him team up with other gods to play out prayer-filling.

I did not realise Ken Kaneki was a literature major and for some reason I find this funnier than I probably should given what I know of his canon (a.k.a. the horrifying bits). Also hello hello, I'm Revise we talked about universities in the app plurk and I come bearing Shun Kurosaki from Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V which can best be summed up as Interdimensional Warfare feat. Card Games.

If you're looking for soulless shinki people to do prayer things with, I am totally up for that with Shun since he has one too and is probably going to be peering at it suspiciously until the heat death of the universe.

I didn't realize it at first in the anime, even though I think it also states it. Once I started reading the manga, I was like, "Finally, a nerd in my flavor!" Kaneki actually directly references several literary works, both poems and novels (like Kafka's Metamorphosis) and seems to be inclined toward Japanese and European literature. I can...totally nerd hard because it's also my field of study. And hey Revise, it was a pleasure chatting with you on the app plurk! I remember the original YGO series, and I can only surmise it's gotten crazier — am I right?

Excellent, let's have us a team-up! Any particular prayers you'd want to hit, maybe after the intro mingle cools off?

Well, Metamorphosis at least sounds accurate in context, gj Ken...

And YEEEEAH it kind of went from that to a school to a dystopia to saving the entire friggin universe and now to interdimensional wars and saving another universe by the looks of things. Card games are not merely restrained to earth, for they are Too Dang Powerful.

We could try the rowdy spirit one if we're allowed to put two people on that...otherwise the prayer for hope seems like a thing Shun would do, if you think Ken would be into that.

He has a briefly dangerous level of genre savvy in which he correctly draws the parallel between himself and the main character of that story. Kaneki I Know My Tropes Ken is on the scene.

Card games have gotten too strong I will never play rummy again...

Let's see, rowdy spirit requires having fulfilled the requisite prayer and since they're both new they haven't done hat. The hope one could be totally doable though, and Kaneki's likely to start with non-combative prayers at first.

I suppose a story like Tokyo Ghoul probably isn't one where knowing tropes or being genre savvy would make it any more enjoyable on his part, though. A shame.

You cannot escape the card games, they will find you.

Oh whoops yeah I forgot about that, I was kind of speed-answering these before work this morning so I only skimmed the availabilities and not the requirements orz. But yeah, the hope one is definitely a thing that would work.

It sure doesn't spare him from a mandatory ticket on the pain train, so yeah I doubt it avails him much. But at least he was on the money about his own role. More so than he truly grasped at the time.

Oh noes they will pervade every universe.

Fun and also hilarious because while Shun is certainly somewhat optimistic by teenage war survivor standards it's in the FUCK SHIT UP UNTIL YOU ACHIEVE YOUR GOALS kind of way. At least he can relate to trying to get missing/dead people back so it won't be completely terrible on his end.

Oh, I can tell this will be a beautiful thread. Their styles of approach should be a wonder to behold, especially with early-canon Kaneki being such a furtive creature.

"Tragic" definitely sounds like the right word, yes.

YEP Shun is, uh...upfront. Usually in the attack first and ask questions later kind of way but in regards to positive things like hope and friendship it usually involves lots of angry yelling and occasionally hitting people with monsters until they agree. Probably a good thing his duel disk doesn't have solid holograms while he's here...

I’m not the protagonist of a novel or anything…I’m a college student who likes to read, like you could find anywhere. But if, for argument’s sake, you were to write a story with me in the lead role, it would certainly be… a tragedy Damn calm your savvy Kaneki it doesn't avail you any...

This sounds like they're going to have a splendid time trying to talk optimism into someone... That or they'll traumatize that poor soul.
