Urashima Kotetsu

Character: Urashima Kotetsu
About: An actual cinnamon that is too good for this world, too pure. He's energetic, naive, innocent, and likes making friends while being a bit on the sheltered and spoiled side. His talent is making friends and he has an affinity for turtles and stabbing things. Overall a normal kid but kind of weird at times due to the fact he isn't actually a human spirit so he's actually a little detached from things. He remembers he's a sword spirit now!
God/Shinki: Shinki to Oona (Eris)
Plans: I'll be making a network post with Urashima very, very soon! Since he remembers he's always been a spirit (and one from a particularly ~haunted~ type of spirit), he'll be talking about... spirits! Please tell him ghost stories and he'll share his really bad ones with you. Scroll down for more info about this!

Character: Sakura
About:Youngest princess to the royal family in JRPG fantasy Japan, Sakura is gentle and kind but also shy and anxious. She's easily nerved in unfamiliar situations and comes off as meek and timid but like her older siblings, she's strong too… just in a more quiet way. Once her mind is made up, there's no stopping her. She's the best healer in the army and not too bad with a bow and arrow.
God/Shinki: God, Konohanasakuyahime, goddess of Mount Fuji and human life.
Plans: Not much! She's settling in nicely in game right now and beginning to get a hang of this god thing... or at least, the best she can. She's going to try to get out there and answer some prayers.
Wanted CR: Open to anything!
Unwanted CR: Can't think of anything. I'm seriously honestly down for anything.

I'm going to be running a player plot soon! For those who don't know, summer is the ~haunting season~ in Japan. Ghost stories are really popular around this time of year, especially as you get closer to August (which is coming up in game). I hit up the mods and got the ok to do an event based on this!

Prelude: I'll be making a network post with Urashima soon as kind of an unintentional PSA about this spooky tradition in Japan. He used to be a sword spirit... a tsukumogami, in fact! And tsukumogami, despite basically being really really really minor types of gods, are generally associated with some spooky (and silly) ghosts like the possessed futon spirit that smothers you in your sleep and the one eyed umbrella spirit with the really long tongue... Getting into the festive spirit, Urashima will be asking everyone to share ghost stories and he'll be sharing some of his really dumb ones. This network post is just to help other characters understand what's going to happen next! It's totally optional but if you want your characters to be a little more aware of what's going on, you can just have them be like, "This weirdo kid mentioned something about this..."

Main event: The main event is going to be a log that will go up next week! People in the Near and Far Shores are beginning to get into the spirit of the season. A lot of people— especially young people— will be engaging in spooky shenanigans. There are haunted houses, tests of courage, people telling creepy ghost stories, and tons of programs focusing on the supernatural and paranormal. There will be increased spooky spiritual activity. Suddenly, there are tons of weird things going bump in the night! Some of them will be silly... your slippers are possessed and keeping you awake all night! But then there will be more dangerous spirits appearing like real ghosts showing up in haunted houses and terrorizing innocent people. There are reports of characters from famous urban legends appearing and attacking people, kids are sharing cursed images on the internet... that sort of thing. We, the players, will be affected and/or have to deal with these new reports.
