TEST DRIVE # 17



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Courtly Cadavers

Several dead bodies have very suddenly returned to life. Not only that, but they seem to be possessed by very courteous and polite spirits. So there are reports of half-rotten beings bowing down to young ladies and kissing their hands or holding open doors for other passersby. It's really nice, sure, but also really disturbing.

Dark Deeds

In the middle of the night, there is a spirit that keeps turning off all of the street lamps. Fortunately, there aren't many cars on the roads at this time. Unfortunately, the spirit is also putting out all of the cars' headlights as well. And no cell phone lights or flashlights work during that time either and it's starting to cause a lot of accidents.

Endless Eight

There are eight blocks in downtown Tokyo that have taken to repeating endlessly. As you reach the end of the eight block, you find yourself stepping onto the first block again. No amount of turning or redirecting yourself will allow you to leave the eight blocks - until you stop by a cafe with a couple of bunny girls out front and make a purchase, that is.

Further Forward

Many in Tokyo want nothing more than to be on the cutting edge of technology! And there are some wealthy people who want to be even further ahead than everyone else. That's why they've sent out a general call for new types of technology to be brought to them. And if what you bring is impressive enough, you might get yourself a nice reward~

Giant Goats

Several farms on the outskirts of the city have reported a very sudden and tremendous growth in their goats. That's right, there are two-story tall goats hanging out with the other farm animals. Other than being very large, they seem mostly the same. But since goats will eat anything, well... Let's just say a couple of farmers are going to need new barns soon.

I know! And especially when they have all that pollen! They might even make you sneeze until your eyes get all watery and where you can't see anymore!

[She said with a huge pout! However, the more that she walked, the more she noticed said corpse was starting to fall behind.

That and when she tugged him a little, his arm fell off.

Whoops. Don't mind Mabel staring at the corpse and then back to Obi here!]

[ ....It's nice to meet an ad-libber who so easily grasps the essentials of her role. The masked stranger smiles before turning their attention back to the goat, which is continuing to chase the hay. They swing back up atop its head and ride the goat off over the horizon....


...or at least around this bend, out of sight, and away from the farm. There's the property damage taken care of, at least. ]

[It happens with years of practice and watching way too many sappy soap operas. Either way, as the goat continued to wander off, Mabel just couldn't help but sigh.

In the back of her mind, she was already making plans on figuring how to woo this man into her boyfriend some day! However, she doesn't seem to notice how the goat was coming ever so closer toward her!]

[ Oh, no! What's she doing there?! ] Whoa!!

[ They bring the goat to a halt and pull out a very large sword. The magician hadn't wanted to distress a lady by doing this in public, but... ] Rend!

[ Thank goodness. Even without the magician's shinki in this thread in close proximity, said shinki's power on this sword is enough to banish the ayakashi that had been possessing the goat. The goat, who had previously been not getting enough to eat, so its anxiety about wanting to grow bigger very baaaaaa-dly had attracted the negative aura.

Now the goat is shrinking. With the magician on it. The reins adjust as it shrinks until the magician is Mabel's prince on a white....goat.

Up it trots, like this isn't a strange sight at all. ] Are you unharmed?

[yasei]

At least he won’t have trouble with that.

[ But also, he will have some trouble holding the flowers. Which is not exactly intentional, Obi can tell. ]

Maybe it can be stitched back on?

[lifts]

Together! Yeah! We can do this together. Like a team.

[She beams at him despite him internally dying. She holds her hand out to him.] We'll be fine as long as we work together, right?

[lifts]

[She feels like they shouldn't just let them wander free, but she also isn't even sure about what they'd do if they stopped them either...]

I wouldn't really want to get kissed by any strangers, that's for sure! I wonder why this is happening and if we should let them be. They aren't being malicious or anything, but I'm not sure if we just leave them to their devices like this.

R-right! Teamwork.

[He can do this! He can definitely do this.

He'll take Uraraka's hand.]

It'll be easier to do it together.

[meowbel]

You really think so?

[She said before pouting a little and then looking back at the ground.]

Then we'll just have to make do! Quick, we must perform surgey at once! Grab the grass, we'll make this work!

[yasei]

[ See, Obi is both an ex-assassin/mercenary and the bodyguard of a herbalist working for the royal court, so he knows a few things about stitches. ]

I’m not sure the grass will hold that well, particularly if he wants to use that arm. We need to find something a little sturdier.

[yasei]

People do it a lot where I’m from; the back of the hand stuff when they greet ladies. But it’s usually in upper class so maybe they are too. [ The corpses. They’re totally not normal corpses. Well, beyond the walking stuff. ]

I wonder though~ It’s if they do change their attitudes that they get troublesome. Maybe it’s possible to herd them off somewhere and keep them there.

[meowbel]

Really? Then how about my sweater, you think that'll work?

[She said before pointing to said rainbow colored piece of clothing. ...And yes, there's sparkles on there too. Don't ask]

[yasei]

You mean for him to wear or to take thread from?

[ Either isn’t really going to work, though. ]

[meowbel]

Take the thread! It'll fix him, won't it?

[At least she's trying??]

[yasei]

That’s a bit too thick. And it’s a nice sweater, too. And we don’t have a needle, either.

[ He looks around. ]

Maybe there’s some store that sells those stuff.

[meowbel]

Then what are we waiting for, let's get going already! The last thing we need is to have our zombie friend fall off anymore limbs!

[That being said? As she was about to pull him with his other arm? There goes his leg too!]

[yasei]

Yeah, we ne--woah!

[ He jumps as the thing starts to fall, then reaches out to catch it by its funeral clothes (he supposes) before it crashes to the ground. ]

I suppose we’re in emergency mode....

[meowbel]

Which is why we gotta do surgery and fast! I don't want my friend to be falling apart! Quick, to the local hospital!

[And off Mabel went to grab both of his limbs before rushing over to the local emergency room! However, just as she was about to rush on over....!]

....By the way, where is it anyway?

[yasei]

I don’t know.

[ He was going to ask her if she knew but, she already answered that all on her own without him having to ask. ]

What about sewing stores?

[meowbel]

Then we'll go off to the sewing store too!

[Wait for it....!]

Wherever that might be!

[yasei]

We’ll just have to find one.

[ Oh. ]

If you keep our friend company, I can have a quick look at the surroundings.

[meowbel]

In short, we need a distraction!

[Mabel, you seem way too excited about that]

Don't worry, I think I might have just the thing to keep him happy!

[yasei]

Alright, that’s great! I’ll leave it to you then, and I’ll be back in a couple minutes.

[ Which means that he is...suddenly not there any more, because he’s good at simply fading into the shadows and disappearing.

But he’ll be back in a couple minutes. ]

[meowbel]

[Meanwhile, should he come back? Well, he may or may not see Mabel attempting to start a band over here.

Don't mind her singing with all of her heart and attempting to get her zombie friend to join her! ...And there may or may not be a crowd around them too]

[ Okay that is an odd thing to return to.

He decided to buy needle and thread when he actually found a place. Or maybe he stole it, you may never know.

But really what? Is she doing?

He’s just going to watch from on top of a lamppost for a little while, in bewilderment. ]
