TEST DRIVE # 17



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Courtly Cadavers

Several dead bodies have very suddenly returned to life. Not only that, but they seem to be possessed by very courteous and polite spirits. So there are reports of half-rotten beings bowing down to young ladies and kissing their hands or holding open doors for other passersby. It's really nice, sure, but also really disturbing.

Dark Deeds

In the middle of the night, there is a spirit that keeps turning off all of the street lamps. Fortunately, there aren't many cars on the roads at this time. Unfortunately, the spirit is also putting out all of the cars' headlights as well. And no cell phone lights or flashlights work during that time either and it's starting to cause a lot of accidents.

Endless Eight

There are eight blocks in downtown Tokyo that have taken to repeating endlessly. As you reach the end of the eight block, you find yourself stepping onto the first block again. No amount of turning or redirecting yourself will allow you to leave the eight blocks - until you stop by a cafe with a couple of bunny girls out front and make a purchase, that is.

Further Forward

Many in Tokyo want nothing more than to be on the cutting edge of technology! And there are some wealthy people who want to be even further ahead than everyone else. That's why they've sent out a general call for new types of technology to be brought to them. And if what you bring is impressive enough, you might get yourself a nice reward~

Giant Goats

Several farms on the outskirts of the city have reported a very sudden and tremendous growth in their goats. That's right, there are two-story tall goats hanging out with the other farm animals. Other than being very large, they seem mostly the same. But since goats will eat anything, well... Let's just say a couple of farmers are going to need new barns soon.

[ Impressive strength as always, almost admirable, though jumping off to the side gracefully is easy enough. ]

It would be easy to simply leave you here.

[ Maybe, anyway, since Mukuro still wants to figure out what Hibari can do here, as the Vongola's Cloud Guardian but without knowledge of his limitless potential. He's torn between breaking the rules set by this world just to see for himself what it does and taking on the mission of prying it out of him forcefully.

Nevertheless, Hibari is proving that Mukuro still pushes the right buttons without even trying too hard. A sorry state of affairs, if they were different people in different circumstances. ]

But I'm feeling generous — how about a clue?

But they don't even have a scarf. Should I over them mind? Oh but I only have one and there's a lot of them... maybe if they stood next each other they could share it.

[Oh wait they were talking about something else weren't they.]

The ears are cute though I suppose. Do a lot of humans do that? Dress like rabbits I mean. Is it only rabbits?

[Awww, he's bashful! Wasn't that sweet!]

You don't have to worry about me, but thank you. They all seem rather friendly, and they talk too. The ones I'm used to seeing just make strange gurgly noises and try to kill you.

They usually stop once you set them on fire though.

[Then again most things generally stopped attacking when they were on fire. Still seemed like it might be important for him to know though, in case these ones ever got mean.]

Are you out here all by yourself da'len?

[ Hibiki snorts at that. These...folk...do seem courteous, at least. They're sure to respect the authority of the Ultimate Prince. ]

You. [ Addressing the corpse now. ] Stand down. This ball is hereby dissolved.

[Why is he doing this?]

You haven't seen goats before?

[Actually, now that he thinks about it, her Ki levels are--different.

Either way, it's time to go goat hunting. Might as well get it done and over with.]

[saiyanboss]

[Didn't your mommy raise you to polite to ladies, Gohan?]

Is that weird?

[She frowns at him, eyes narrowing. But at least he seems to be doing what she asked. Which is good. Food with no work is the best. Though there is something about him. Something that feels off.

Probably nothing. She's not use to this world so if this is his home, its not that surprising.]

[freezetheheavens]

[He almost lets out a huff.]

Even if it's just a silly idea, it's still an idea. It wouldn't be good to simply discard it just because it's silly.

[Seriously, with all that he's been through and the people he's fought with, any idea can actually seem pretty reasonable. Take Kurosaki Ichigo, for example. That substitute Shinigami is full of bad ideas.

There's a bit of an eye twitch at the mention of paperwork, though he's quick to conceal the faint break in his demeanor.

A blink when she sits on the oar.]

A good place to start would be finding the source. They don't seem to be coming from a particular direction unless we grab one of those corpses and interrogate them.

Those seem to be common.

[He really doesn't like fire.

Just let him stick to his ice, okay.

He gives her a look.]

Does that mean 'child' in your language?

[It barely takes five minutes before all of the goats are defeated and killed.

Gohan is vaguely reminded of the time when he was a kid and left off to fend for himself in the wilderness. At least giant goats are nothing compared to dinosaurs.

The goats are lying around in the field while Gohan hovers above them.

Then he looks at Caulifla.]

Come on down. There should be plenty. [But he's still trying to figure out what's with her that feels off.]

[She lets out a low whistle as she looks over the dead goats before floating down, hands on her hips. She didn't expect the goats to be a challenge but watching him...he's a fighter. That much is clear.]

Not bad, Not bad. You did make pretty quick work of them.

[She seems pleased over all. Caulifla holding out her right hand, a glowing orb of Ki gathers before she blasts the nearest goat. It's fairly strong for it's size. She holds the beam for a few seconds before closing her hand, the ki vanishing with it. Ta-Da. One roasted goat.]

Maybe not as good as over a fire but it'll do.

[Who really wants to wait on a huge goat to cook or even make that fire]

Eleven.

[Makoto repeats the word with another wince. No, she didn't really want to wait to get this solved. She had places to be, and this was annoying. Also distressing, with reality almost seeming to thwart her attempts to get to Jinbocho.]

What changes have you noticed?

[As you have gone through eleven times you are either experimenting or insanely expecting a different outcome to the same action.]

[Shaking her head, she straightens back up. Kouhai...]

You have a knack for stating the obvious, Ryuji.

[Starting forward, she looks back over her shoulder briefly, intent on reaching the goats before they devour that whole tractor.]

We came out here on those reports. So we should see what we can find out. This is weird even for the Metaverse, after all.

R-Right.

[Yeah, now he remembers. He follows suit, jogging to catch up to her once he's given the goats one last look. The reports had stated that they were eating farmers' barns or something? Well, no kidding - nothing else is big enough around here to fill up a stomach like that.]

What we can find out? They're goats, and they're huge. Not much else we need to know, is there? And the Metaverse is different. I ain't never seen somethin' in there big enough that it can eat me, let alone an entire farm.

Well, it's not like we have much evidence for it.

[ Though she starts going higher up, just by another five or six feet. To stay a little further out of those corpse's grasp. Of course, to someone who didn't really know Botan (and let's be real, no one does. Not even Botan knows Botan,) it looked like the shinki was ready to shirk out of responsibilities. ]

However if it's a corpse you want to get information out of, I certainly won't be stopping you.

[ Actually, a teenage girl floating in the air was just the right kind of beacon to catch those cadaver's attentions. After all, what if she fell? ]

[She looks intensely at the cadavers again. There's a pause as if she's considering.]

...Alright.

[If he mentions it in response to her (she admits to herself) awkward explanation, then she assumes he must know how to use it, so she simply trusts in that and starts walking. She didn't want to be surprised, but there's always discovering each other's abilities when it comes time to use them.]

[She weaves her way through, occasionally pulling her hand away or shunting the bodies aside, but for the most part, it's like she doesn't even see them.]

They must have been revived for a purpose. ...I don't like how many of them there are.

[That doesn't sound like something that warrants the earlier reaction.]

Why were you nervous earlier?

[She doesn't really believe that he doesn't have any like he'd claimed, but if he's this forthcoming about what it is, then...she has no idea. She's not cunning enough in interacting with other people to not ask directly.]

Well, for starters we can see if there are any spirits around. Or any signs of spiritual intrusion. It'll be like looking for Shadows.

[She gives him an annoyed look all the same, clearly not in the mood for his selective memory.]

And what about in Futaba's Palace? Or Kaneshiro's tank. Or even, you know...

[The thing they fought at the end? Just before coming here. She knows it's a sore point for both of them, but she's bluntly not letting him off the hook for more stupid statements.]

[That's not very specific, but she can respect wariness.]

Can you get up?

[Getting to the Far Shore is simple with teleportation, but without knowing if he's god or shinki (or otherwise; though from what's she's seen, ayakashi don't take human disguises here the way Horrors do), that may not be the best course of action.]

What were you doing here?

[So far, the repeating streets aren't dangerous, but she's been in enough things like this that she can't take it for granted that the space-warping is all there is to it.] If it comes to a fight.

[How even likely is that? Who knows. But the places she's used to are always crawling with threats.]

I don't want to take any chan—

[The shop catches her eye, as it has been for most of the time she was here, which...she finally registers as weird since she doesn't usually notice that kind of thing.] ...Does that seem strange to you?

[Shion watches Ruca for a moment before he starts laughing under his breath. Of course the life of a shinki is tragic. He'd love to know what happened to him. These strange eyes and hair, the reddish-pink scar that goes from his cheek all the way to his ankle... But he understands rules. And being hurt or worse is not worth finding out what happened to him right now.

So he'll let it drop, for Ruca's sake. Not his.]

Do you think so? I always thought it was a little outdated... At least, I feel there could be a lot of improvements on it!

[freezetheheavens]

[...He's a bit tempted to make her fall if he were to be honest.

It's not as if he cares about her in the slightest so doing so wouldn't make him feel guilty in the least. Though, he does raise an eyebrow at her.]

And would you just continue to stay up there?

[freezetheheavens]

[Toushirou keeps on walking, unbothered by the corpses.

If Rekka doesn't bother explaining her own abilities, he sees no point in elaborating on his.]

Better question would be what purpose they've been brought back for. Unless their politeness is simply a front to fool people before they end up causing a massacre around here.

I've never heard of anything like that.

[Don't look down! Don't look down! Shion can feel the wind rustling his hair and he knows they're somewhere high up and going very fast. He decides to just shut his eyes tightly until they can touch down on real ground again. The world spins as Shion rests his hands on his knees as he tries to finish catching his breath.

He's never going to get used to gods doing godly things.]

... I'm alright. Thank you. I'm not sure I would have gotten- [Glancing up Shion catches sight of that claw and-] Ahh! Your- Your hand!!

[... Never going to get used to supernatural god things.]

[ It'd certainly scare her enough into thinking she'd fall, that's for sure. The reaper was quite adept at staying on her oar, though she hasn't had to find that out yet. ]

You say that as if I'm not contributing when, in fact, I'm giving you quite the selection.

[ She says that quite cheekily, but it's true. There are several concerned possessed bodies making their way over. ]
