TEST DRIVE # 15



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Sneaky Snakes

There are a number of snakes that have become possessed by a bunch of very sneaky ayakashi. They are slithering around, silently, snaring unsuspecting passersby into their trap - their trap to steal money. That's right, these snakes are busy snatching bills and coins from whoever they can. Try to put a stop to their thieving ways, or perhaps get thieved by them yourself.

Tummy Troubles

Many of the customers of a certain restaurant are complaining of the fact that their stomachs hurt after eating there. It could just be food poisoning, but many of these people are winding up in critical condition after a couple of days. It's time to figure out what the heck this cook is actually putting in the food.

Underwhelming Underwear

A family run business has been selling underwear for generations, but the underwear they sell is super boring and bland. Nobody wants to buy from them when cooler underwear is just around the corner. They've asked you to help them bring customers back in - by making their boring underwear seem as cool and hip as possible! How you do that is up to you.

Vividly Violet

There are so many ayakashi making their way through the air that at sunset the sky is turning an absolutely gorgeous shade of purple. Near Shore residents are reacting to this in varying ways. Many are delighted by the beautiful sky, but just as many are terrified that it's a sign of the end of times. Try to take down some ayakashi to make the sky less purple. Or just sit back and watch the beauty.

Wonder Wall

Anyways, there's this college boy who won't stop playing his acoustic guitar. He's from the US and is trying to pick up Japanese chicks. By now he should've somehow realized that they're totally not interested in him. But the song just keeps getting louder and louder and all that the people near the campus can hope is that today is gonna be the day that he stops playing. Maybe you're gonna be the one that saves them.

[The way the sky looked seemed a bit troubling enough, but then he hears a voice calling out and it's enough to catch his attention.

He looks over, wandering over and just. Kind of watches.]

Then it does me no good. If they're not killed, they'll keep being a nuisance. Name me.

[Why is this guy fighting him so hard on it? It's not like Fushimi likes his current god. Maybe this one will be better.]

[ It's catching quite a few people's attention. The public are suckers for fortunes, be they from cookies or underwear. Add a cute girl like her and some good projection? This is about what she could expect.

Which is why she can answer this person with a straight face- Well no, she's smiling because that attracts people this way, but her words are plain and without any kind of embarrassment or shyness. ]

Attracting customers, of course.

..... At this point Mikoto just finds it amusing.

[ How persistent. Mikoto's amused. ]

What. Too weak to put up a borderline?

[ He shrugs his shoulders. He's not really a good god. He's done nothing really to claim the title not even name his own shinki. ]

[ Right? He still doesn't know why they made him a King and now the Heaven's go and screw him over even more by making him a god. Someone up high, hates him.

Mikoto's going to stay right where he is but he'll stay out of the fighting. But if a snake gets within striking distance of Fushimi, it will ~mysteriously~ be burnt to a crisp. ]

[When one of them goes that way to avoid his knives, Fushimi watches it get roasted.

....Alright then. He can work with this. He pins a few more and ushers another towards the fire completely accidentally and not at all on purpose]

[Guilmon is not sure if a purple sky is really supposed to be normal.

There's a soft thinking noise as he considers it.]

But they aren't doing anything to the humans. They're all up there away from people.

[ Mikoto lets him. He lights a cigarette with a flick of his finger while he pretends not to notice the excessive snakes heading his way. ]

[Look, if you don't mention it he won't mention it, even as more and more snakes retreat to their fiery deaths.]

Good enough?

[ She was doing an excellent job- but that's an opinion by someone who isn't all too humble. Though she comes up with a reason for the words; possibly giving too much credit to them, but it's hard to resist tooting her own horn just a little. ]

People love a good fortune, and the sky is providing a good opportunity. The request was in the bag once that happened.

She turned to look at Kairi and smiled, giving a small nod. She gestured to the guitarist not so far away.

"Well, I wouldn't want him to be romantically in love with the harp," she offered with a bigger grin as she tilted her head. "But singing and music takes practice... I think though he needs to learn to love music for music! Practice makes perfect and he's not perfect."

[Alice was quick to let go of Youji and gave a soft 'eep' at having caught someone not a snake.] Oh! I'm so terribly sorry! I... no, these sneaky serpents stole something! I'm getting it back from them. I'm sorry you got caught up in it as well. But oh! Do you think they belong to Asclepius?

The idea sounded like a splendid one to Alice. She nodded and then grabbed his sleeve again.

"Put it near the kitchen but not in the kitchen," she grinned. "I'm ready when you are!"

They're not.

[A faint smile.]

But just knowing they're close by can cause people to feel upset.

[Lavi looks amused, chuckling.]

Well, it's sure to bring in some customers for you in the mean time.

They're not very close when they're in the sky...
