TEST DRIVE # 15



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Sneaky Snakes

There are a number of snakes that have become possessed by a bunch of very sneaky ayakashi. They are slithering around, silently, snaring unsuspecting passersby into their trap - their trap to steal money. That's right, these snakes are busy snatching bills and coins from whoever they can. Try to put a stop to their thieving ways, or perhaps get thieved by them yourself.

Tummy Troubles

Many of the customers of a certain restaurant are complaining of the fact that their stomachs hurt after eating there. It could just be food poisoning, but many of these people are winding up in critical condition after a couple of days. It's time to figure out what the heck this cook is actually putting in the food.

Underwhelming Underwear

A family run business has been selling underwear for generations, but the underwear they sell is super boring and bland. Nobody wants to buy from them when cooler underwear is just around the corner. They've asked you to help them bring customers back in - by making their boring underwear seem as cool and hip as possible! How you do that is up to you.

Vividly Violet

There are so many ayakashi making their way through the air that at sunset the sky is turning an absolutely gorgeous shade of purple. Near Shore residents are reacting to this in varying ways. Many are delighted by the beautiful sky, but just as many are terrified that it's a sign of the end of times. Try to take down some ayakashi to make the sky less purple. Or just sit back and watch the beauty.

Wonder Wall

Anyways, there's this college boy who won't stop playing his acoustic guitar. He's from the US and is trying to pick up Japanese chicks. By now he should've somehow realized that they're totally not interested in him. But the song just keeps getting louder and louder and all that the people near the campus can hope is that today is gonna be the day that he stops playing. Maybe you're gonna be the one that saves them.

Instead, he just laughs.]

[ That just makes her more annoyed. Not really at him, just in her own missing memories. She doesn't even know why she dresses the way she does, she just knows that she is a maid.

But annoyance aside, she can never stop teasing. Or else she might die. She thinks that must be true too. ]

Oh, I see. Then I am not to your liking then? I apologize for being an eyesore.

[sonofson]

I think Izumo or Hakkai would call it....taking advantage of an opera! Or something like that! [Taking advantage of an opportunity, but the meaning is there. Goten just laughs, looking pretty comfortable there as he looks down at Gohan.]

You're amazing, Gohan! I don't think I've ever met anyone like you! You can do everything I can do but better and you're a god!

[saiyanhybrid]

You mean an 'opportunity'? [Gohan laughs a bit, though. Goten, don't ever change, okay?

But now that they're not racing anymore, he decides to take his time, slowing his pace.]

I don't think me being a god really matters, Goten. [He smiles.] But if you ever wanna work on your control better, I'm happy to help.

[sonofson]

[Goten blinks slowly, considering. Was it opportunity?]

Uh, yeah! That!

[Even if Goten can't remember it, Gohan is a good older brother. Super smart too. Nothing will change that. Goten can't keep the smile off his face. This 'first meeting' has been great!]

Really? But you're super strong! Then when you use a shinki you'll be super super strong! I think it sorta matters. Any ayakashi that runs into you is gonna be in trouble.

[It's still a race, one that Goten just plans to win at a little bit of a slower pace especially when Gohan slows down.]

You'd really help me with that? I got a lot of people I train with. That's how I've gotten this strong but if you know more about Chi, I do wanna learn. I don't wanna accidentally blow up more temples.

[saiyanhybrid]

[Gohan wishes he can say more to Goten about it, especially to correct him that Chi is Ki, but in all essence, they're the same, so he thinks it doesn't really matter much.

Getting Goten back into tip-top shape might be a better concern, actually.][Which means to say, he needs to meet Goten's god. He can only hope Aymeric is kind.

But he gives a nod before pausing.]

You blew up a temple!?

[sonofson]

It was an accident! I figured out a new move with Izumo and then met his god later and tried to blast him but it got sent into the temple instead. It's okay though, temples come back in a week. Pretty cool, huh?

[He's slowly moved from feeling guilty about the whole thing, to finding it kind of cool. If Gohan hadn't popped up, he'd probably be tracking Mikoto down for a round two...maybe.]

[Goten, Izumo would give you the Patented Look of Disapproval.

Gohan blinks, bemused. Suddenly, he's glad that back home, they live in such a mountainous area that Goten could practice Ki blasts on those. While it doesn't mean it's necessarily the best idea, it's better than destroying someone's home. He could practically hear their mother now, sobbing and yelling at them.

He could practically feel a bead of sweat slide down his face at the mental image of it.]

Yeah, it is. You might want to practice away from temples next time, though.

[sonofson]

[This is all said with Izumo not around. Goten knows he's safe because of how high up in the air they are. Sorry Izumo...it was really cool. The coolest explosion ever!]

Yeah but I didn't plan on practicing there. Mikoto told me to hit him as hard as I could...costed me dessert for a week too...

[Goten huffs a bit at that, sulking. Mikoto just got hit, he should have gotten his dessert taken away for a week too. Or at least Goten thinks so.]

.....Hey Gohan! You should try to blast Mikoto too. I'll introduce you! I bet you could send him flying cause I couldn't!

[This is probably a horrible idea but if it doesn't sound amazing...] You can do even stronger Kamekamehas then me!

[There's a slight look of alarm. Mikoto isn't a Saiyan, is he? So why would he tell Goten to hit him as hard as he could?

Then there's a sound of sympathy. For a Saiyan (and for kids in general) anything related to food as a punishment is bad enough.]

Well, you did blow up their temple, even by accident. [Even if Mikoto was edging Goten on.

Gohan refuses to urge to facepalm.]

I don't think that'd be a good idea, Goten. [Because really, a Super Saiyan going against a King would spell disaster.]

[sonofson]

[It'll be okay as long as Izumo didn't go to Aymeric with that punishment. Izumo has the best food and desserts, but Goten can get what he wants from other people. Mainly his god.]

Huh? How c'mon? It's like training! Gohan, I bet you could beat him! [He bounces a bit on Gohan's back in protest. You're suppose to be the cool big brother]

Just don't do it near a temple.

[saiyanhybrid]

[For all you know, he could have.

Gohan laughs. It's nice to remember just how much confidence Goten has in him.]

Guess we'll have to find out, don't we?

[Gohan grins.]

If only he could fly and we could fight in the sky instead.

[Ah! Goten perks]

But he said he could fly! So you might be able to fight in the sky!

[Goten's hand shoots up]

I wanan watch though, so you gotta tell me if you do fight him, okay?

[The people here keeps on surprising Gohan.

He chuckles.]

Right, I'll be sure to tell you.

[He whistles, calling Nimbus back to him and as it flies beneath him, Gohan decides to take a spin.]

I.. I guess. I mean, people like customized merch but...

[ He's just... staring at the underpants before looking back up at the other man. Who is this guy and how can he seem so... real... about this ridiculous idea.

Indeed it is. These good people have requested help bringing customers back in... by making their underwear more cool and hip.

[But see how he's managed to bring it back full circle? Ah ha, you did see that, didn't you?]

Although given your reaction, it appears my means of answering this prayer will not be well-received. [At least Munakata isn't unreasonable. In fact, he's far from that. And he's hardly bent out of shape over the small hints that it's not a good idea.]

[She looks like she's planning something. Hakkai's eyebrows creep slowly up as he considers the woman and her cautious glances at passersby, until he hears her muttering to herself.

He clears his throat politely.]

[Ordinarily,the Valkyrie would not appear in front of others in the Near Shore so obviously divine, but she is coming to learn that the humans do not notice such things. Thus, the woman glaring up at the sky is armed and armored, quite unsubtly.]

[She glances over at him while still plotting what she can do to 1) get that guitar, 2) not seriously injure the player, and 3) avoid any sort of security.

But apparently, she might have a partner.]

[She pauses for a moment, giving a slight bow before talking again. This woman was one of the goddesses, so respect should be shown.]

True, but... I like taking action, even if I do not know what is out there.

Besides, the people around this area are not reacting well to this sky. Something is wrong.

I see. [She looks the new arrival up and down after she arrives. Looks like someone she might be able to get along with.]
