TEST DRIVE # 13



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Illegal Irritations

Nothing supernatural about this one, there are just some guys sell illegal drugs and weaponry in some of the back alleys of Tokyo. They might solicit you to try and get your business or you might just happen upon them targeting someone else. Either way, are you really okay with letting this go on in your city?

Jumping Jellyfish

For some strange reason, a bunch of jellyfish have taken to literally jumping out of the ocean and all over the beaches. They seem to be scared of something in the water, but be that as it may, they're scaring away all the beach tourism! Quick, figure out how to get them back in the water!

Kooky Kickoff

A brand new store is opening up and, as part of their grand opening, they want people to perform for their potential customers! And they're just dragging people off of the streets and shoving them into ridiculous, off-brand character costumes to do it. Whether you're part of the show or watching others make fools of themselves, it promises to be a good time.

Lovely Lingerie

There's a great, new brand of lingerie being sold in Akihabara that is all the rage right now. They're stylish and sexy and come in all shapes, sizes, and colors! There's even some that are themed after popular shows. But people who are buying them keep winding up missing. Coincidence?

Manic Molting

So many birds are molting on the spot for no reason, shedding feathers all over the streets, on peoples' cars, and in any space they can get into. It's really not their fault, but darn if it's not making things difficult to do with all these feathers around! Either help clean up or figure out how to stop the mass molting!

That's the first thought that rings through Izumo's head, and he knows he should walk away. But he can't - doesn't.

There's a pull there that makes him want to follow the man. A clench of the jaw before he goes after Mikoto.

Even if Mikoto was a connection to his past - Izumo knows he should stay away in that case - he couldn't leave the redhead alone. There were questions, ones that made him bite his tongue to prevent himself from asking. There was anger, too, surging inside of him because....

Because what?]

Wait. [It's not a plea, but god or not - connected to his past or not - Izumo cannot bring himself to let the redhead leave just yet.]

[ Let's say...

That Allen was perhaps not as torn apart about making some honest yen as far as prayers are concerned. (Not very likely)

Or maybe that Lux has been working herself to the bone to try to put him out there, so he can't actually say no. (Very likely)

Or perhaps it was a combination of the two. Begrudgingly realizing and admitting that his shinki had a goal in mind and she wasn't about to let silly things like pride or "could you not call me a god..." get in her way. Because that's very likely the case here.

Regardless, the two find themselves at some kind of establishment and, through a bit of creativity, manage to flag someone down after what felt like an eternity. And at first it seems fine, casual conversation, blending in. Normal things.

But when it comes to ordering, the woman who would normally eat like a bird, when she did remember to eat... ]

Let's see...

[ Starts rattling something off. Very cognizant to the amount of money that they had but...

It was a bit more than what she might normally have. A bit more than a bit. ]

[ This is hard.

One of the hardest things Allen's had to do. Keep smiling. Whatever you do, keep smiling. Cruel jokes of fate or not, wanting to grab the other Exorcist and shake the sense back into him or not—keep smiling. So that Allen might also extend his hand to him at that. The right (human) one gloved as always in white.

It's so hard. ]

Nice to meet you, Lavi. [ For a moment...

..for a moment can we just go back to joking and pretend everything is alright?

He'd be okay with being teased if it meant that. ]

[ Mikoto stops... how can he not? But he doesn't turn around. ]

Go back to your god.

[ He means to end it, right here, right now. Izumo would be safe that way. Not only did he pose a danger to him as the Red King but now even their past together was a ticking time bomb. In the end, it always came back to the same thing. He wasn't any good for any of them. Izumo, Tatara, his Clansmen... they deserved better. ]

[ Elizabeth is nearly as embarrassed, but she's got to keep a cool head around Luna; the other girl is mortified enough. Growing up in a tower all alone with only books to keep her company... well, they're two peas in a pod. ]

[While Izumo may have ended it there, let it be done with, but his words strike Izumo as some sort of twisted humor.

There's a smile, far from genuine.]

[ Oh, dear.

Elizabeth leans forward and peers into the mouth of the suit. She's at least wearing a good-natured smile, if that helps Elsa at all. ]

I think you might be advertising something, but I'm not sure. I've never seen an outfit like this!

[His eye narrows.

Hesitation.

Lavi wants to ask: Why are you acting? There was something bothering Allen.

It made him want to help, but:]

Don't sound so formal. [A grin.] Anyway, how about I show you around?

[ That his turning halfway, his aura still pulsing but under control. ]

What do you mean?

[Natsuru's concerned about all those people going missing too. But she can't deny a draw to the pretty things that are supposedly connected to everything, either. She's always been encouraged to wear things that boost her confidence... even things no one else will see...

Hearing Elizabeth's voice nearby, her cheeks start to turn pink, and she sharply pulls her hand away from the garments she'd been inspecting.]

Y-You think?

['Risqué' is not the word she wants to hear describing something she'd seriously consider wearing, if it weren't for the rumors. Wait, but that's not the important part! She glances at the notebook and shakes her head.]

I haven't seen any of them, no... I wonder if they really did disappear?

[ Elizabeth doesn't hide the frown that forms; but it's not displeasure at Natsuru's answer. Rather, she's thinking about what Natsuru's said. I wonder if they really did disappear... It's something to think about, and Elizabeth flips to another page and makes a note of the question. ]

It's interesting that you came to that conclusion. [ It's not condescending; Elizabeth is genuinely curious. ] There's not enough information to assume they went missing, is there? It could be any number of things, but I'm not absolutely prepared to conclude anything specific happened to them. [ So... ] What do you think happened?

[That's not exactly where she was going with that thought at all, but Elizabeth has a point. And it does tie in to what she was thinking.]

I'm not sure... it seems like so much is possible here. Especially in this place.

[She has yet to imagine anything that seems completely impossible, for those who aren't the living in this world.]

But buying lingerie doesn't seem like it has a lot to do with going missing. Unless there's something causing it... like if the clothes themselves are magical.

[With a clicking of his tongue and a rather curt jab into his suit's inner pocket, William pulled out a simple designed handkerchief and whistled at one of the more distressed pigeons. After a couple more attempts to coach the bird into trusting him, William carefully scratched at the top of the bird's head. ]

There, There... It's just a stage. Once you are done, you are done for a while.

[And from the corner of his eyes, the Grim Reaper turned God of Time finally took notice of an intruder and frowned.]

Are you just going to stand there and gawk or are you going to make yourself useful and pick up a few of these feathers? They can be turned into quills if they are healthy enough.

[He eyes him, wondering how he should phrase it before deciding to just come out with it.]

My god left. He's not here anymore.

[ Instead of calming him down, that just seems to fluster him more. ]

Your boyfriend?! I can't just... I'm not... That won't work! [ Aaaaand now he's completely red. ] And if I were acting like that I wouldn't bring you here on a date!

[ What kind of pervert thinks of a lingerie shop as an appropriate place for a date?! Wait, he doesn't want to know.

Although her conclusion is a reminder that they're shinki and that this might play to their advantage at least manages to calm the hysterics a little. ] R-right. We... we'd be invisible, right? No one would know we're there? [ Does that make it better? He takes one more look at the window and goes red again, burying his face in his hands. Somewhere, his god is probably getting stung a lot right now. Sorry, god? ]

I can't do this!

[ Oh, no you're not, because Yata frantically reaches out to grab the back of Bandou's jacket and roughly drags him backwards before he can move more than a few steps forward. ]

No no no! We're not going in there! Are you crazy?!

Kiiiiiiiing! :D

[ He'd been on his way somewhere, not really paying attention to his surroundings until he'd skated past the tree with someone sleeping under it. Which was a little weird, but whatever, it did look like an okay place for a nap, he guesses? But when he skates past and a strange feeling washes over him, it's enough to draw his attention and he slows, circling back in curiosity for something he couldn't quite put his finger on.

But as he comes back close again, he slows when he sees the man napping there has opened his eyes and is watching him. He cocks his head to the side, gaze raking over him, a slight frown on his lips. ]

What? You got a problem?

[ Okay but she doesn't see him coming up with any bright ideas! She doesn't exactly like this either, but you know what, sometimes you just have to take a stupid plan over nothing at all. ]

If you have a better idea, then I would love to hear it!

[ Was she getting a little fed up with this whole thing? Oh. Oh yeah. But instead, she will shift her weight to one side, gripping her elbows in either hand and looking away indignantly in thought. ]

And not completely, but we might be able to slip in unnoticed, just so long as we don't make a scene. I just want to watch a few of them.

[ ...Watch them do what, Lux. ]

Get a good idea of what they look like, see if any of them have anything in common, other than shopping at this particular store. Gather information.

[ Oh, well that sounded a little better. She didn't seem to think it odd at least, judging from how unaffected she looked.

[ Ahh, okay, so she wasn't actually expecting that bit of a meltdown and, holding her hands up like she was actually guilty of something for a moment (like completely ruining this poor guy's dignity not that he needed any help from her), Lux sighed.

(Maybe she was a little too intense there...)

All right, all right.

Her expression smoothing a bit, she offered him a somewhat sympathetic, if not extremely tired smile. ]

How about this? I can watch from the inside, and you can keep tabs on who leaves. Get a good look at them if you can, and try to remember as much as possible. We'll need that information later.

[ A smile which softened slightly as she tipped her chin downward, canting her head slightly and trying to get a good look at his face from behind his hands. ]

Okay?

[ What dignity though?

Her offer catches him by surprise and his head comes up again, blinking at her in confusion. That hadn't been the response he'd expected from her and there's part of him that very much wants to latch onto the out she offers like a lifeline.

But there's no way in hell he can send her in there alone if people are vanishing from this place and he knows it. Which is why he groans and slumps forward a little, grimacing. He tugs at his collar, face still red, and keeps his eyes averted. ]

No, that won't work. I'll come in with you. Let's just... make it quick, alright?

That is indeed part of the joke, the never shutting up this song, the neverending meme. Unless you mean myself? As a matter of fact, it's often that I'm told to shut my trap. I wonder why is that? It's as such I would ramble on and on and on.

[He's absolutely being obnoxious on purpose and loving it.]

But filling your request, here is the chorus:

[With how huge he is, it's amazing he managed to almost sneak up on Ri. He glances at Doku's sword uneasily, and then clears his throat.]

His eyes slip up to the sky, a wary smile tugging at his bottom lip. His aura slides over his skin in a warm embrace meant to suffocate. A far worse reaction to the explosion with Izumo because he's not fighting it. He lets the red flame consume him as Heaven's knife sinks into his heart with more precision than Munakata's sword. ]

[ Mikoto stands, hands in his pockets. He'll get used to it. Izumo... Yata. They deserved a second chance. The Heaven's had given them a god, a new King to serve and Mikoto wouldn't get in the way of their new beginning. ]
