September OOC Intro/CR Meme

Welcome aboard, newcomers! And welcome back to those who have stuck around! It's the time of the month when we add newbies to our ranks. So here is a new Intro/CR Meme in order to get you set for the coming month.

What do you need to do? Simple! Fill in the handy form provided with as much or as little information as you want to and reply here. New players or old players bringing in new characters should respond specifically to the 'Newbies' thread. Then, go about responding to other people's introductions as well. It's that easy!

Kinda, sorta? There's an explanation for it that uses magic girls as the basis that says 'transformations(henshin) equal a ton of energy equal attack at your own risk because that energy will harm anything but the person using the energy'. I wish I can find the exact video/post about it but here's a gif of a Rider using his henshin as an attack and here's one of a Rider whose henshin is used to block an attack. So yeah, there is that. Though Ankh once pretended to be Eiji. It was hilarious.

Ohey, they have some common ground there.
revolutionfalcon: (is that what you think?)

That's actually super crafty, I like that idea (the gifs do give a better image of it and it's a bit different to how I was imagining, but similar enough in concept if not execution). And good lord, I'm not sure how Ankh expected that to last any longer than the first person he had to try and convince.

It's a good kind of shared ground to have. \o/

Different Riders have different henshin styles, so each one reacts a little differently, though some can be really really showy while others are just flashing lights and belts with a little extra push to them (it all down to the budget of the show and the suit designs too). If you want to see some of the more recent ones, there is this video that shows the main Riders.

It is pretty good :3

Funny thing though, in the series, Ankh reached that point where he was actually more like a shinki to Eiji since he had to give up his main Cores to help Eiji battle the big bad it shattered the Cores thus 'killing' Ankh though he does come back so it's hinted that his Cores were restored. The icon here is basically what Ankh looks like when he shifts his form.
revolutionfalcon: (so maybe there is friendliness here)

I may poke that sometime, because I am a bit curious as to the variances there (I'm more familiar with the magical girl genre when it comes to henshin sequences, so call it some out-of-genre study for me :U).

I may have inspected the general stuff for OOO on TV Tropes when I was procrastinating bored the other day so I did read a bit about that (also I am more amused than I should be about Ankh apparently being Literally An Arm for most of the series).

Before I started watching Kamen Rider Decade (I love it but it's one of those 'great plot ideas killed by producers/on-set problems' kind of shows and it made a lot of hard core fans annoyed at how some things were treated because of it) I'd thought it was just really silly take on magical girls but for boys and then I found out differently. there's a lack of lady Riders unfortunately but the stories and issues that pop up are very mature with a side order of silly toys.

Like I say at times he is a floaty monstrous bird arm attached to a comatose cop for most of the series. it's hilarious. Like this icon that's all that's left of him.
revolutionfalcon: ((chibi) mild enthusiasm)

YEAH I've definitely heard Some Things about Decade because ARC-V is doing a similar thing with bringing back a bunch of characters in a big homage to the previous series for an anniversary. Also I watch card game anime, I'm used to mature issues with a side order of silly toys. /jazz hands

I mean to be fair, it's a pretty cool arm to be even if that's all of him...
connivingbird: (heh my treat)

Pretty much the same thing though I love Decade and if he wasn't such a tool without his three support Riders (Natsumi, Yuusuke and Daiki) I would have brought him in instead of Byunghee. He would seriously cause a lot of damage because he is basically a major evil that decided that evil is too much work. He's fun though with the added bonus of being a snarky little pile of snark..

It is a very cool arm and it's pretty dang strong but floaty monster bird arms can't open fridges to get ice cream so he needed a body.
revolutionfalcon: (you keep telling yourself that)

[personal profile] revolutionfalcon 2016-09-15 01:07 pm (UTC)(link)
Well, he certainly sounds like quite a guy to have as a protagonist...

Floaty monster bird arms can't eat popsicles either, so clearly this is another disadvantage.

He's the embodiment of what a Kamen Rider is - a tool of evil that grows into a force of good, though there are times when they slip back. though in Tsukasa's case it's more of a 'well I didn't get enough sugar today so let's destroy a world' slipping back. He just is a chaotic force really.

Actually he absorbs the potential energy so he can eat it just not in a way that he can enjoy with tasting and feeling.

WOW someone better make sure not to hide the sugar when he's doing this job, then.

Okay well, a hand can't eat popsicles as awesomely as a body can in that case.
