Everyone was young and drunk - decisions unfolded accordingly. Not that today's older leaders are much better. One only needed to read the papers for that.
But Waver's thoughts go more along the amused lines of Christ, with how this conversation is going, we sound like a pair of lushes than the thoughts of how alcohol soaked decisions in ancient times stacks up compared to those more sober of the modern world.
