The blood trail is made up of thick spatters, and leads away from the crime scene. The injured person started heading in one direction, but as soon as the nearby temple came into view they turned and headed that way. For all the blood, their gait (as evidenced by the occasional partial footprint in the blood) doesn't seem to show that they were staggering -- they're running steadily, almost as though they weren't injured at all.
The blood leads into the temple and straight to the shrine, where a small blood pool formed. It would be logical to assume that the injured person used this temple to transport themselves to the Near Shore.
The knife was left in Scully's back. There is no indication that the killer approached her body and touched it or the knife after the knife was thrown.
