TEST DRIVE # 08



Whether you're trying to figure out how your character would fare in this setting, trying to get some samples together, or just dipping your toes in the water, you've come to the right place! The Test Drive is here to make your life easy by letting you see what the game is like without actually joining it first. So here is how it works:

1: Post a starter with your character, including whether they are a god or shinki in the subject line.
2: Act like your character is established enough in the setting to allow your thread to go places.
3: Take on any god/shinki of your choosing, as long as they're not already in the game!
4: Comment around to the other people on the meme.
5: Have lots of fun!

To get you started, here are some ideas for thread-starters! Feel free to come up with your own ideas if these don't strike your fancy, though.



Junky Jokes

There is a small spirit girl who is determined to hear some funny jokes before she passes on to the next life. Your job is to come up with some horribly bad, wonderfully funny jokes to make her laugh. Be warned, though, she's got a very serious face that's hard to crack.

Knights Knives

The swords of the knights at a local museum's exhibit have gone missing. They are praying for them to be returned because these swords are worth so much and such a great part of history. Hopefully you'll be able to find them, because otherwise those prayers are going to someone else.

Ludicrous Lightning

There's been a streak of heat lightning going on. It's so intense that sometimes the lightning will light up the night sky as if it were day and there have been numerous power outages in the area. Go help out the people who are without power and make sure that everyone can still live as normally as possible!

More Money

Who doesn't need more money? A little convenience store needs help since all of their employees have fallen ill at the same time. They're offering double wages to anyone who will work for them. Unfortunately, the store is a hot spot for misfortune and ghouls of various kinds. Have fun!

Neon Nourishment

Surprise! A very American man is shoving neon bright candy and cakes at everyone who will stop for even a moment, and he easily notices all Far Shore residents as well. Which means every time you pass him, you'll be getting more and more of this hideously colored food. Enjoy~

[Oh, wow. It's a goody-two-shoes. It's been a while since one of those got in his face, but he can't resist escalating this once he knows.]

I'm not going anywhere! But if you think you can make me, go ahead and try.

[He grins in that "make my day" kind of way all villains seem to practice in the mirror. Judar couldn't be more obvious about picking a fight if he wore a shirt that said "Free Punches" on it.]

[For now at least. Going to set one of the brighter colored pieces upon the place, using the knife to lift it and then pokes at it with the flat part of the blade for a moment.]

Not plastic..or at least not hard plastic. it had some spring to it.

[Don't mind her slight scowl at the color. Best not to get her started.]

[Honestly, the color is fairly... awful. She couldn't blame her for that too much.]

Well... it's a start, at least.

Next, we should try and cut a bit off and see how much it resists that.

[It's the first time he's heard this guy talk, so Shun's attention is piqued purely by that, but it's the word itself that draws a sharp glance from Shun. He can't smell whatever it is himself, but if it's coming from the hand, then it's possible it's a lead.]

Does it lead anywhere? [Though he's not exactly familiar with how scenting trails works, he's more than well enough acquainted with other kinds of trace-following to jump on even the faintest potential guide.]

Huh? Really? [Her eyes widen, as if impressed-- which she is, a little, honest! She smiles and giggles a little]

Then show me what you've got! I won't believe it until I see it with my own eyes! Oh-- I'm Sanzang, by the way. Here.

[Where did that box of candles come from?? Don't question it, she's shoving it in Judar's arms now] Let's make sure all the houses on this block have enough candles, okay? If we work together, it'll be over in no time!

Judar--what the hell?

[It's always nice when people don't call you out, but he doesn't quite get how magic = delivering candles?? When did he agree to do this? He holds onto the box instinctively, feeling a bit like he just got run over.]

What're you gonna give me when I prove it? No way I'm doing this for free.

[He gets the sinking feeling this is one of those people who it's impossible to directly fight against. Rest in pieces, Judar. All he can do it make sure he gets something good out of it.]

[sanzohoshi]

[Magically deliver the candles? Sanzang has a box herself under one arm, and she hops down onto the dark road below.]

Hm? Give you...? [She hadn't really thought about it. She taps her her cheek thoughtfully]

I could dance for you! And you'd have my favor. That's good, right? [Not that such a thing probably works here hahah oh well it's worth a try]

[incendiarism]

[He follows behind her, holding onto the box because he has no idea what else to do with it. She has him wrapped around her finger already, so good job, Sanzang.]

You're a dancer? Guess that explains the outfit.

[Says the guy in the belly shirt. He has no right to be using that tone.

Dancing... Okay, not what he was looking for, but that could be interesting. The favor alone could be worthwhile, but seeing her dance could either be hilarious or actually interesting.]

Fine! When we're done, I'm gonna get that favor and the dance. You'll see!

[And he's going to start by kicking in some random house's window. See, he can be efficient and eager! What a good guy! :')]

Isn't it nice? [Her outfit, she means. She grins at him as if oblivious to that tone] Yours' doesn't look too far off from mine!

[Sanzang wasn't expecting that to work, but she's pleasantly surprised that it did.

waIT STOP NO] You could just knock! [WHY IS EVERYONE SHE MEETS LIKE THIS]

[He scoffs, rolling his eyes. His fashion is way better! (Somehow. Don't think about it too hard.)]

No way, mine is on a totally different level! And it doesn't have those stupid sleeves, either.

[He turns back to the window, leaning in to throw candles across the dark room. Is he hitting people? Is it on purpose? What a mystery!]

This way's faster. People who need help don't get to complain about it!

[sanzohoshi]

Hey, hey, these sleeves are my weapons, you know! They're pretty! [And top-grade silk! Rude.

She rests her hand on her hip, exasperated.]

You're just going to cause more problems, you know! If you know magic, can't you magic the candles inside?

Magic cloth doesn't count as a real weapon, that's just a tool!

[He is the official arbitrator of what's cool and not, trust him.]

You want me to levitate them inside? Fine, have it your way.

[He gives her a grin that promises only bad things. He points his wand at the candles, lifting them up in a neat little line.

...And then uses his power to fling them even harder into the room. There may or may not be the sound of glass breaking right after, but that's totally a coincidence.]

[Her eyes widen and she suddenly wishes she had the headband her version of Kanzeon had put on Goku. She'd definitely use it now.

But as it is she drops the box of candles and whips her sleeve to whack at him-- there's no power put behind it, but it might still smart a little.]

Hey! Bad boy! No! [What is he, a dog??] If you make more problems, I'll take my offer back! [And then you'll never see her dance. Take that!!!]

[Since Judar is a weak little baby physically, he feels that sting and flinches back. It gets him away from the window, but it earns her a nasty look.]

Quit being so picky! I'm doing what you asked, aren't I?

[He's obeying the letter of the law, not the spirit, so cut him some slack!!]

Hehe, that one's good! [But good enough for the proper audience? . . . Nope, no dice.] Hm, this is pretty hard, isn't it?

Where do baby ghosts go during the day? [A beat, then,] Day-scare centers!

[If Urashima was older, this would be an entirely different conversation. As he's not, there's no way Yusuke is taking all the credit for this all by himself.

He's not a complete asshole.]

[Yeah Senri is not really the talkative type. Generally he doesn't see the point in it unless he actually has something to say. And even then he defaults to the fewest words possible.

But he's not worried about that. He's too busy trying to find the source of this scent. sniff sniff

The rest of this armor doesn't smell like that. But the next suit over in the display, also missing it's sword, carries the same floral aroma. And also right around the hand that once held the sword.]

[It seems like their thief has a favored brand of perfume and an awfully heavy hand when applying it. Not that Senri has come even close to linking those threads.]

If it explodes I believe it is time to pay the man a visit to remind him those pranks are not funny.

[If Alice had her dolls- In kind to be honest but for now, cutting into the item. It gives some trouble but cuts after a few moments.]

It's not a pastry type but not fully hard candy.

[Oh, come on, it's humorous to discuss, at least. Mostly because, somehow, the idea hadn't crossed her mind.]

Let me see. [She'll just float around to it, and she has a look at the incision.]

Oh, yes, that's far beyond "a little stale." If this ever was cake, it's definitely not now.

...how many people do you think tried to eat these? Give or take.

Either he's playing the fool to see who takes them or is incredibly dense with what he is giving out.

[It is! Except when remembering this isn't Marisa's style of explosions. Those you knew how to dodge and when. This is a bit too random for her strategic tastes. Putting the knife down for a moment and adjusting her hair band, because by this point she would have been either summoning a doll or tightening the grip on her Grimoire if she had either. So something for her to do.]

To be honest? 69% probably have as they never learned not to take anything from people they do not know and eat it. It's not going to help them with their power nor their color ratio.

Although given that death has happened I'm not fully sure this would keep many down if the did so.

[It wouldn't be funny if they actually did explode. Until that point, though? Humorous enough.]

Mm. Well, until we run more in-depth tests, I suppose we haven't discovered them to be lethal yet. Just massively unhealthy. Perhaps we should cut a chunk off to examine it in more depth.

By the way... how is it doing the work on your own? Without your dolls?

[She likes Alice well enough, but she'll still continue being a butt to her. Besides, she could easily be made fun of herself.

“You seem quite experienced in this sort of thing, milady.” He can’t help but feel a little curious at that—he doesn’t usually take an interest in other people unless they happen to be of some import to his own master, but that efficiency and foresight…he only wishes he can get to her level.

“Do forgive me if I speak out of turn, but…were you once a spymaster in your previous life?”

Ruri stops, spies were things wrapped in secrets, something she abhorred but she was trained in intelligence, just not well versed for it. Looking at him she tilted her head a bit.

"Spyhunter is closer to the truth. I spent a lot of time in military intelligence, but never had the ability to spin lies so I was better at keeping spies from damaging data networks. I'm not sure if that is the same where and when you come from."

She shrugs a bit, "I did a lot of odd jobs though."

"We never had ovens at home, and I didn't ever want to get in the kitchen staff's way so I never learned much of it."

Ruri nods a bit though, she understands being a theorist.

"I'm told it is a lot more like chemistry than other forms of baking."

He furrows his brows at that, more perturbed by the memories she might have summoned than for any real disdain toward her profession.

“I…do not remember, milady.” Such is the nature of a shinki. “Regardless, I have some knowledge of working within a military environment, myself. I find that your methods far outperform mine in that respect.”
