Super Spooky Player Event!

Hello, Far Shore! Eski here with a player event for y'all!
It's summer in game and for those who don't know, this is the haunting season in Japan (and other parts of Asia). Around this time of year, you'll see a spike in horror movies, an increase in ghost specials on TV, haunted houses popping up, and kids double daring each other to do stupid things in the name of bravery.
And all of this increased interest in spirits is going to result in an increase in spiritual activity on both shores! Most of them will just be small time ayakashi out to do harm but there are also some genuine, small time spirits out there just trying to have a good time trolling people. There will be silly hauntings like your teapot suddenly becoming possessed and only serving lukewarm tea for laughs but then there will be more malicious ones like actual vengeful spirits harming visitors at a haunted house.
Not all of the prompts will involve players dealing with spirits! There will be one where characters can just enjoy the "festivities" and try a test of courage or haunted houses that may or may not actually be haunted. The idea is for this to be light and silly for those who just want to do shenanigans but also have some wiggle room to let characters have a Hard Time.
Characters who are Japanese (or from Japanesque worlds) might be familiar with some of these traditions. To help give unfamiliar characters more familiarity IC-ly, I've posted a sort of "prelude" network post here. It isn't directly related to the log that will go up but it's just there in case you want your characters to have a slightly more solid idea of what's going on later. Like, one minute you're laughing at this kid over being afraid of possessed futons but you later find yourself being attacked by your blankets in the middle of the night and know exactly what's going on.
The event log will go up next weekend (around 1 July give or take a day because I'm in a super future timezone and get my days mixed up sometimes) so look out for it! If you have any questions or suggestions, let me know either here or at plurk (
